Maybe I'll print off a copy and leave it sitting in my car when I drop it off at VW tomorrow for a DSG diagnosis.
Hopefully they get the hint.

VW Apologises To Chinese Customers Over DSG Woes, Extends Warranty | Motoren
Volkswagen has come under severe pressure from Chinese authorities of late concerning issues with their DSG gearboxes. Yesterday, Volkswagen issued an official apology to Chinese customers and acknowledged the issues that the dual clutch transmission has been causing in its vehicles.
According to several reports in the China press, Volkswagen have now agreed to extend the warranty on it’s DSG gearbox to ten years or 160,000 Km, whichever comes first....
Maybe I'll print off a copy and leave it sitting in my car when I drop it off at VW tomorrow for a DSG diagnosis.
Hopefully they get the hint.

If they did that for the DSG I'd be back in the market. I just can't afford to spend 7 - 10k on a new transmission in its fourth year and it's put me right off second-hang VW's.
And they offer a similar extended warranty in the USA and Europe, so why does VW Australia continue to have its head up their arse??
Just add more fuel to the fire so that I will never be a lazy DSG owner.

I'd add DSG equipt cars to my future want list if it had this sort of backing. I'd be scared off a DSG box out of warranty. That's not to say they're unreliable or anything, would just be my decision.
I'd be wary about DSG if they are out of warranty. I know it's a new technology (relatively) and could have teething issues. An extended warranty for peace of mind would be nice. China is obviously important to VW. However these DQ200 trannies are used globally. This warranty should be extended in many other countries without having to fight VW/VW dealers.
China's press and government put a lot of pressure on VW over there though, something we might not be able to match here.
I thought they prefer to driver cheaper imitations of European cars over there anyway
I don't understand why the DSG woes haven't been fixed. My MY09 Golf GTI had the mechatronics replaced at 26000k and performed perfectly up until I sold it at 58k.
So you would think that VW would have identified the problem and applied a fix at assembly, but later models are still experiencing the same problem.
It should be said though, you generally only here the bad and not the good. But obviously, there is no denying the problem is fairly widespread.
I suppose it's a time/cost thing? If fitting 20% cheaper parts only causes problems for 2% of customers then it's worth the risk perhaps, who knows. I was told the shims originally fitted inside the DSG weren't as capable or long-lasting as originally expected (maybe they were hoping they'd last 3.5 years).
At least on this forum I haven't noticed any DSG issues for MY11+ cars, I thought it was only the first cars that had the problem once they reached ~30,000kms.
You're probably right about the cost thing and hope you are right about MY11 + cars. My MY09 Golf GTI started showing DSG probs around 18K.
Ultimatley, the thing nearly killed me. Whilst turning right across fast moving traffic, it decided to give me a false neutral.
