I hope MY11+ cars fare better but not enough time has passed to know really. Friend of mine has a Mk5 Jetta made in May 2010. Last week it refused to go into gear. No warning signs, no symptoms beforehand. What really gets me is if one looks up this vehicle in ElsaWin there is no tpi mentioning this. It's like VW doesn't know for sure what the issue is. The dealer just replaces the mechatronic unit on a per case basis.

Will try to dig a bit deeper in Etka to see if there are any changes in the part numbers betweekn mechtronic units in that year vs MY11+ with respect to 7 speed DQ200 DSG.

Not likely, they are having DSG problems across the whole range of VW vehicles.

Do they really have to stick DSG in everything? I guess it works with economy and performance, but there is still something to conventional autos in those mid range cars. That sort of warranty is pretty brave in China seeing as cars can get a pretty tough life there, and no not every car there is a knock off, there is stigma about having real v fake just like there is here, only fake is much more obtainable there. Plenty of high end stuff getting around too, not to mention more VWs per head than WWII Germany (no...that's probably wrong, but there are A LOT).
