I received an email today with the link that I posted. It invites interest for 2014 events.

Ok that kind of makes sense. But wouldn't you have already registered for them to have your email??

You would think so. I have attended them for the last couple of years. VGA move in mysterious ways?

Well best off to be registered than not and miss out.

Just a reminder to anyone who is a VW owner (most people on here I should think) that to receive a discount on the VW Driving experience course you have to be registered on youvw (owners area of VW Aus website).

I know some people almost missed out last year waiting for a discount code. Courses fill up pretty quickly so make sure you're registered in both places to ensure you don't miss out.

I actually booked the course at full price last year and then the team refunded the $100 discount later.

I can't wait. I did the Progression course at Phillip Island last year and want to do the Evo course this year. Had so much fun doing laps around the track.

A few of us did the Evo last year and while it was good, it was 90% a copy of the Progression course, which was a bummer.
The only real difference (besides the car) was 5 minutes of racing line theory (which you can already find online in this series if you don't know already) and a few extra laps around the track.

AdamD and I travelled over and did the Progression / Evolution back to back on consecutive days last year at Phillip Island. Yes Evolution was very much a copy of the Progression course and a little disappointing that it wasn't a little more "evolved" as many of the exercises were copied straight over (albeit some were done at higher speeds or had an additional manoeuvre).

The major difference, however is that the group size in Evolution is 2 drivers per car vs Progression is 3 drivers per car so you effectively have 50% more bum on seat time.

It is, however all over fairly quickly with the laps being the highlight and only taking up a relatively small slot at the end of the session (again).

Would I do it again? Probably. Would I travel to Phillip Island if a course wasn't being run in SA? Definitely!!!

If it's being run at Mallala this year it'll be a tough call as to travel to Phillip Island or stay local.

If the courses are only being run in the 3 Eastern states then it's a no-brainer.
