It's just the short circuit - most of the driver training days ( BMW/Audi/VW/V8 ) use the short circuit

Yep, turn 1,2 and right hander for 3 are all same, but then instead of swinging around to the right and doing the whole rear section of Eastern Creek, it goes to the left and joins back on track where the rear section tight u section is (the one that kind of then takes parallel with main straight), where Morris took out Skaiffe a number of years ago.
Then has subtle right hander just before the left hander onto the main straight.
The Scirroccos were quite capable cars, was surprised. When they said "no Golf R's this year" was a bit upset, as last year in the Progression I was mainly on the Gti apart from 2 laps in the R.
But managed to take out a witches hat with the back of the car in the wet corner exercise (instructor was awesome, he was egging me on..the whole exercise was about feeling the car safety mechanisms when you push it beyond what any sane person would do...) literally was full on the accelerator then backed off to end not far passed the witches hat, but this lightened up the rear and around it came...somewhat.
Instructor this year was great. Last year they were whinging (and went to grab the wheel) when I was hugging the edge of the track (I like driving right to the edges), I don't think the guy this year would have been fused at all if I decided to get wheels out on the dirt!

    OK, makes sense now.
Can't wait to have a crack at PI in September - should be fun and an interesting learning experience.

    Had 2 great days!

The Scirrocco R is an amazing car around the track.

We did drifts in the wet even which was fun and a handbrake turn

I was quite impressed by the Scirocco R, made my GTI feel very tame by comparison. The wet corner exercises were a real eye opener, who would believe you can accelerate that hard in a FWD and not spear straight into a wall. On the downhill run on the corner, I managed to spin the car, but it was full acceleration down hill in a wet corner . Its been a 17 year break for me since I last did supersprints at EC. I managed to hit 195 down the straight, which was about 5km/h faster than my old worked VK SS Brock..... will do it again next year

Next year there may be that Evolution2 course with more track time, sounds like a good offer if discounted like the past two courses.

    Peeps,

I'm away at a conference on the 3rd of September so won't be able to make the Progression session at the Island on the 3 September (booked on the 12:30 PM session)

Thought I would post here to see if anyone is interested in taking my place before I call VW to get a refund. PM me if interested.

I did the progression course at Phillip Island today and loved it. It was well organised and the coach I had was fantastic. I loved it so much that I want to do the evolution course next year.

A huge thanks to the organisers for a great day.

AdamD and I did the Progression course yesterday and are back at the track again this morning doing the Evolution.

Weather was brilliant yesterday - think I may have even got a little too much sun. And todays weather looks just as good if not better.

Hopefully catch a few other forum members at the track.

Just ask for the 2 guys from Adelaide in group/car 20.
