Thanks, with Easter, I have more time to generate more anger to unleash on the service manager and the principal. BTW, I met you at VW Nationals last year, love your Polo

They did the PD on the vehicle and delivered on behalf of dealer (a service they do when cars are purchased from a dealer and go direct from Dock to Customer). so they fitted the tow bar and first dealer that tried to repair the vehicle blamed Patricks for the problem and were charging them, so Patricks were trying to get it sorted so they didnt get a massive bill for what ended up to not be their fault.

Personally, I would have flown to the other dealer & driven the vehicle home but i assume circumstances didn't permit that.

Apart from being technically incompetant, I'd guess having the vehicle delivered to the dealership would have rubbed salt into a few wounds in the sales department.

    maybe I've misunderstood though......
    You nailed it in one.

Just having a mild poke mate. I have been lucky thus far (touchwood) that I have had no issues. But like anything, more moving parts (normally) leads to greater potential for faults. Although I haven't heard too many haldex faults

To my surprise and delight, the Service Manager, who has conducted himself in a most professional manner, has agreed to repair the damage to my car at the repairer of my choice and provide me with a loan car.

He apologetic response is genuine and has proven himself to be an asset to the dealership he represents. Whilst I would much rather none of this had happened, my faith has been restored.

Well that's good to hear, but this still shouldn't have happened in the first place... Do you know if the people who were in the car will get the arse??

You're right, even though they are coming to the party, I would prefer that none of this happened in the first place.

I showed the video to the service manager this morning and have provided him with a copy. He is going to refer it to the dealer principal.

Maybe a lesson for others, fit an in-car video, mine is full HD and cost $300

He was lost for words and maybe secretly hated that video technology which can turn into irrefutable evidence is available to the masses!

Great result for you but just another reason why VW Australia should take all dealerships and staff in house like they are in Germany. Sure this may have still happened but at least there would be concrete corporate VW procedures in place to deal with the staff concerned not just some vague promise of showing it to the Dealer Principal.

Did you tell him about the video before he agreed to do the work or after? If before Kudos to him for doing the right thing and taking your word if not I wonder what the outcome would have been without the video.

    Cheers Al

To his credit, he pledged to make good prior to me mentioning the video during the initial phone conversation. He then went further at our face to face meeting, agreeing to my demand for choice of repairer and the provision of a loan car, again before he viewed the video.

So, I went there ready for conflict, but it all turned out OK. As I saidthough, I would much rather none of this had happened.
