It's also worth bearing in mind that one person can have a shocking experience, when others have a good one with the same dealership and even the same people.

You're right about that and it means that some VW dealerships need to have the staff trained to handle difficult to deal with customers. I don't mean that people who posted in this thread are difficult, but untrained staff will not react right if the customer has not his/hers best day or doesn't ask the question about the car the way the dealer expects.

Untrained staff, customer not having his/her best day, customer not asking a question the way the dealer expects? Surely, these are not excuses for siht service?

what legal recourse does a dealership really have if you simply turn around and say "it's the internet. people are allowed to voice their opinions - look at yelp.com. so why dont you just deal with the fact you're a isht service provider, and fck off?"
Just because we apologised doesn't mean we meant it. ;-p Sometimes you just have to go through a process to get people to leave you alone. Every one of the issues we've had issues with, we would have won in court as the statements made were statements of fact. My forum runs on a shoestring budget of about $350pa. We don't have the time or money to fight a court case or even get a legal opinion so it's easier just to pull your head in. It's only a forum after-all.

Nope, but I'm just saying we can have the situation where "OMG I got amazing service from XCZ at GHF VW" and the next person will say how bad they were.

Different people interpret things in different ways.

I wasn't particularly happy about service from Gold Coast VW, it took me FOUR visits to convince them that there was something seriously wrong with my DSG. Each time they had my car for the day. Finally after the fourth visit they agreed the DSG wasn't operating correctly and made a booking to have it replaced.

We also had a disagreement regarding tint, whoever VW use to do their tinting decided it wise to Tint over the top of stickers on the windows. The dealership refused to fix it and kept saying that is how its done and if I wanted it changed I had to approach the people they use for tinting.

Haven't been back to that dealer since, I pay a good VW/Audi specialist for all my servicing now.

The "OMG"s are vastly outnumbered by the "WTF"s on this thread at least. But for the balance look here .....

Not every VW owner is in the forum.
Also, it's sad to see the signs in some hospitals saying; Violent or Abusove Behaviour Will Not Be Tolerated. It says a lot about the todays world we live in.

Off topic, but butcher shops used to have signs ages ago, that said

"Smoking or expectorating (spitting) is prohibited in this shop" ..... 50 or so years ago

I also saw a sign in a city council bus that said

" The driver is equipped with a DNA test device" or words to that effect to deter passengers from spitting on him/her.

Yep, says a lot about the world today.
