Which camera are you using? I might be interested in one!?
Well Big Kudos to him then, not the best thing for his staff to do that to a customer car but really out of his control. In the end he can only trust them to do the right thing until they break that trust like in this case and I'm sure they wont be working there much longer.
That he made it right without the need for you to mention or show the video first is a very big tick to his character and rep for doing the right thing by the customer and I'm sure he is actually happy to have the evidence to show to his boss.
I would make sure you mention this to the dealer principal who by all accounts will probably contact you personally as the service manager has done the right thing and it deserves to be acknowledged as I would think most would just say it didn't happen here mate you must have done it.
Good result for you in the end and I'm glad it worked out for you.
Cheers Al

GOTRACK GPS Vehicle Tracking Australia: Web based GPS Tracking My View Incar DVR Dash Camera
It is barely visible from the driver's seat. I have it to the left of the mirror up high. Strangely, the service guy in the passenger side commented that the lights on the camera were flashing but he didn't seem to know if it was recording. They must have just forgot about it after 10 minutes into the drive.
LOL, stupid is as stupid does....
If they don't get the sack I will be very surprised. As a side not it looks like a much less obtrusive bit of kit than the GoPro. Might have to get one and take Marti's Rocco in for a service
Cheers Al
I have a GO Pro aswell but it is not really suitable for this type of monitoring. The Go Pro is perfect for track/GTG runs etc. The Go Track can be set to lrecord in loops of different time spans ie you can set it to record 1 minute or 5 minute grabs, maybe longer not sure. I have mine hard wired now and it turns on and off with ignition, although it will also turn on / off with the supplied cig lighter plug.
There are cheaper ones around, Office works have this one...

Not sure how good it is, but the Gotrack is full HD.
Unfortunately this thread pretty much sums up why I don't own a VW.
I'm 31. For the past 10 years I've made a pact with the devil that the first 'fun' car I get will be a WRX. I had no interest in over-priced Euros with weaker performance and higher running costs. Then along came the MK V Gti.
I initially dismissed all of the reviews and hype but after 5+ years of praise and THAT episode of fifth gear my perceptions began to change. The continuance of a good thing with the MK6 kept me interested and, somewhat tangentally, the 6R Polo Gti got me into the dealerships. That's when I joined VWWatercooled.
Whilst I'd shed a lot of my Euro hang-ups I still had concerns about reliability (DSG), servicing costs and the liklihood that if I had a problem, it would be addressed without me having to throw my toys out fo the cot.
I've posted my dealer experiences already so I won't re-hash them but in general my experience was very disappointing. The majority of the dealers I spoke to gave me the overwhelming impression that they were doing me a favour and they didn't need to win my business. I have no doubt that a lot of VW's are selling themselves, but that sort of complacency comes back to bite in harder times.
That was my initial impression but car dealers aren't always the best representatives for their product. Unfortunately, the experiences of friends and forum members has only further convinced me that there's a high liklihood that this attitude continues with aftersales servicing.
Now I know forums are often focal points for fury as well as a great problem-solving resource, but as a member of a Subaru forum years ago (I drove a Liberty 3.0R), I never saw the same level of dealer/manufactuer issues that I've seen here and elsewhere.
For what it's worth I recently helped my better-looking half buy a new car and the sales experience at Toyota, Ford and Nissan was much better.
+1 to whoever suggested VW should have VW-owned dealerships. Toyota have a few of these and they were great to deal with (better than the privately owned ones).
VW dealerships pale in comparison to tyre dealerships. I've been trying to get some replacement tyres and I'm amazed how many are either trying to sell me the cheapest possible tyre or just don't seem interested in making a sale.
GTI | Carbon | Man | 5 door | Leather | 18" Detroit | Bluetooth | MDI | Bi-Xenon
My better-looking other half bought a poverty pcak Corolla and was treated like she was their only customer. She went to the dealer on her own and did the deal without any influence from me.
After sales service was just as good. She complained of a slight rattle coming from the glovebox area and the service guy was like a little terrier. He wouldn't give up until he found the cause and fixed it.
Also, she recently booked it in for its first service and told them she had limited time due to work etc, so they made a time for her that suited and she could wait for the service to be done.
The VW dealers from my experience say "leave it with us for half a day"
