Anything turbo'd on your "P's will cost you a bomb regardless for insurance!
Oh I wouldn't be surprised if a 118TSI is exempt! They aren't that fast or powerful!
Hey guys,
theres probably been a billion threads bout this on here and i have tried to search it on both google and on the forums to no avail.
just wanted to check and see if any of the p platers on here from vic have gotten an exemption to drive their 118TSI? I'm looking at buying one very soon and don't want to be left over with a dud car and no insurance backing me up.
I've gone thru this other thread http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f112...s-38409-7.html but nothing useful comes up and its been a year on.
Cheers guys,
Peter

yeah i know its gonna cost a bomb on top of actually buying a car. guess thats the cost of loving vws and the mk6 design. test drove both the gti and the 2.0 tdi and they are both very very good.
will be off my ps in a year and a half but cant wait any longer. TSI here i come!..
the tsi is moddable too....
i'd have one, but it'd have to be manual.
I believe you can request an exemption but it must be before you have purchased the vehicle as there was a thread on here a few days ago where a guy had bought his GTI and now can't drive it.
Best bet is to stick to the ****ebox/daily until off your P's or put in an exemption request before you purchase.
I was wondering about this for my girlfriend. Anyone know about QLD??
Or move out of the Nanny states. I still can't believe people accept polititians that implement such RIDICULOUS laws.
Anyone can kill them selves just as easily in a Hyundai Getz as they can in a GTI (or any other car for the matter).
How moddable is the TSI?
Funnily enough the exemption form for vicroads NEEDS you to buy the car before someone can approve the use of it. With the TSI I'd say/hope that would be pretty easy as the do seem to have clearance with the RTA. Any link on the other guy who bought the GTI?
Also just wondering, there's no actual for sale section on this forum?
The only way you can have an exemption in QLD is if you not driving the vehicle would create serious hardship in your family, or you can prove that you owned the vehicle before July 1st, 2007 n
I would like to apply for an exemption for my mum's Tiguan (which is in fact slower than my car), but with two other TDI's in the house, it's not likely.
