And this is the reason why the make it hard to get exemptions.

Funnily enough the exemption form for vicroads NEEDS you to buy the car before someone can approve the use of it. With the TSI I'd say/hope that would be pretty easy as the do seem to have clearance with the RTA. Any link on the other guy who bought the GTI?
The exemption form that I saw for Victoria said you should or must apply BEFORE purchasing the car. You might want to re-read it or you're looking at the wrong form. Check out the Mark VI forum for Paulys post on this subject.

Let us know how you go.. If you get it, I'm applying for the Tiguan.

Believe it or not, the girl on the phone at Youi was hesitant to give me a quote because my car's Turbo Diesel.

But turns out they can't insure it because of the 35mm drop.

    35mm drop?

Yeah, no probs. I'll put the results of my letter on this forum to see what happens. Shame with what happened to Pauly's GTI, but lucky enough he's off his Ps very soon, I still have a good 2 years. Just that I used to be into the riced up boxes that you see out there, thought I'd try to add some class to my life .

It'll be funny as if I manage to get an exemption for the GTI though..

Youi is a low to medium risk insurance company, and apparently having a 35mm drop increases your risk? Or maybe it indicates that I'm really a hoon at heart and I go racing around every corner in my 2.0 TDI?

Yeah but the difference is I'd cry over the GTI and would applaud the destruction of a Getz
