Looking at the price of GT Sport diesels & GTDs - the price doesn't seem to be affected that much. Not for the age & mileage of some of the vehicles.

Some of us are none of the things you make us out to be certainly not a fanboi whatever that may be.

We are just owners who have unfortunately got caught in a not very nice situation. So should we be like several of you and carry on like a pork chop about about how many grams of whatever the cars may or may not emit and which we can do nothing about or just sit and wait to see what eventuates.
Raving on will fix nothing and not enhance any claims for compensation.

I prefer to wait and see what VW offer as a fix and compensation if any.

The owners who think that VW should buy their cars back or pay for the extras they have fitted are P***ing in the wind.

They were rapt with the cars up till now and all of a sudden they dont want them.

I like my two cars and am disappointed about what has happened but not enough to rant and rave about it.

If the solution is not good enough THEN is the time to start getting annoyed.

As for selling, my wagon is now worth about 40% of what I paid for it after 4 1/2 years so reckon thats not far off what it should be.

Oh yes they can — I learned to drive in a Model T — take your eye off the road and you're off the road, come to a steep hill, turn round and go up backwards, forget to retard the spark and break your wrist, carry spare water, for it boils at the drop of a hat etc. etc. At 25MPH it rattles, at 35 MPH you rattle.

Bought a 1923 Dodge 4 and couldn't believe how good it was — I didn't start rattling 'til 45 MPH, it had a starter and it didn't boil.

Both needed a head-off valve grind and decoke about every 8-10000 miles, neither had any worth-while brakes — if you wanted to stop you wrote to it, both were surprisingly good off-road vehicles.

Youse guys don't know how good you've got it...

LOL, not all of us are privileged financially and time wise to sample/collect & maintain vintage/classic vehicles!!! But hey, at least there aren't any emissions control soft/hardware to worry about because none of that new fangled sorcery existed back then!

I'd LOVE to get into collecting/restoring classic cars but the Minister for Finance aka She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed at home put the kibosh on that idea years ago.....

After the second world war, new cars had a long waiting list. My father had a preference for American cars & ordered a Ford V8. There was bribery around at the time & people paid dealers to move their name up the waiting list. Dad got tired of this & bought the new beetle back Vanguard with right hand gearshift on the column. In 1954 he bought a Vanguard Spacemaster. It's hard to believe now, but the instruction in the owners handbook was to have a valve grind at 5,000 miles from new.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
