    9 Subaru 3,621

In the August figures, VW accounted for 7.04% of the total of the top 10.

In September this dropped to 6.70% of the total of the top 10. Not a particularly significant drop, however a lot of sales will have been committed prior to the news breaking about the diesel emissions.

Compared to last year VW sales up 14% in September.

October's figures will be more likely to show any impact.
    October new car sales figures:

    1 Toyota 16,964
    2 Hyundai 9,003
    3 Mazda 8,532
    4 Holden 8,088
    5 Ford 6,098

    7 Mitsubishi 5,508
    8 Volkswagen 4,480
    9 Subaru 4,112
    10 Honda 3,261

VW down 6 percent (compared with same month previous year I assume rather than over previous month).

Equates to 6.2% of top 10 manufacturers' sales for the month, down from 7.04% in August, and 6.7% in September.

Facepalm all you want. Check and recheck your own knowledge frantic. The EPA report measures just the proportion of NOx per kilometre and not the total grams emitted so stop comparing it to a semi-trailer.

Even if you use that figure the end result is 4 vw tdi weighing 6 ton emitted the same or more Nox than 3 semis weighing between 120 and 180ton
What B+++Dy difference does it make You lot are just arguing for the sake of it. The cars will get fixed eventually. The result may be not what we want but after we find that out is the time to start moaning. Has been 77 pages in this thread plus others arguing about "Maybes"
and incorrect technicalities. Give it a rest.

You've been on the forum a while Hillbilly, so I'm sure you know how to unsubscribe from a thread if you are not interested in it anymore, or is there something specific you are waiting to pop up that you don't want to miss?

It just doesn't matter, and still wouldn't prove your original point.

Now you're just trolling, so you win! I can't follow an argument where the goalposts are changing.

I thought there possibly could be some sensible discussion but am sadly disappointed to see its turned into a P+++ing contest about sweet FA

You really don't understand the argument you're in. You're still buried in (diesel) fuel economy & CO2 emissions, which are all but inextricably linked. Burn more diesel, emit more CO2. Unavoidable.

The same is simply not true for NOx. Hence, the fact that some semis, burning massively more diesel, can emit less NOx than my Golf GTD is of huge significance. In the real world. If you care to join us.

As for those telling me I should just wait? Back in July I contacted Volkswagen for a payout figure for my Golf, because I was planning to sell it. Unfortunately, I waited too long, and advertised it the week it was confirmed that the problem affected Australia. It is currently advertised $4000 less than Car Sales tells me it is worth, and I haven't had a single enquiry - not even somebody to tell me I'm dreaming, and offering me an insultingly low figure.

How long should I wait, for what outcome? To find out how the fix will affect my power / torque / fuel economy / reliability? To find out how much I can receive from a class action for being unable to sell a vehicle for less than it was supposedly worth 3 months ago?

I have an interest in this discussion, and have read every post in case it brings something new. Frankly, I'm getting sick of posts from illogical fanbois who somehow manage to convince themselves that Volkswagen have done nothing wrong, and that we should all just shut up and wait until Volkswagen deign to tell us how they think they can resolve this debacle brought about solely by the company's own corporate culture of ego and arrogance.

I want my Golf gone, but I don't want to lose any more than I must. If I can't come here, to a Volkswagen discussion forum, for consolidated news on this issue then where can I go? What is this forum really for? Fanbois only?

Carsales figures are often inflated because their "sale price" statistics are based on what users enter when they close off their ads - and they're often not truthful. Check out redbook.com.au for a much more accurate reflection of the value of your car, based on real selling prices (as reported to registration departments).

Sometimes cars just take longer to sell - not just VW diesels. There are several members who've been trying to sell their Mk6 Golf Rs for months at reasonable prices and just haven't had any bites yet, for one reason or another. It can't be all attributed to the scandal (although I'm not suggesting that the situation hasn't had a bearing in your case).

A Mk6 Golf GTD is going to be a niche product with a very limited number of second-hand buyers at the best of times. They were slow sellers when new. It pays to be realistic here. During this period of unknowns (which is likely to last for some extended time - perhaps another 6 months or so) it's going to be more difficult than normal to sell a VW or any diesel, and to be honest I don't think that anything that anyone says on any forum in the meantime is going to give you more clarity, unfortunately.

My reading of this thread is that the majority of contributors fall into one of two camps: those who are affected but want to wait before speculating (which doesn't mean they forgive VW or are "fanbois"), and those who are affected and are angry, and feel the need to vent.

... and unfortunately, after all the debating and arguments, this is the ultimate proof that diesel VW owners have been negatively affected. I'm awaiting more fallout regarding the petrol motors now, especially my 2.0T .. staying tuned.

Yes. 12 months ago I sold my Golf GT Diesel on car sales for $15,000 with just 60,000km on the clock. I would hate to think what it's worth now ?
