    Hi everyone

I am the owner of a golf tdi that is affected by this issue. I have also received the email mentioned above from VW Australia. I am just wondering what are the options and interested in finding what affected owners are considering: 1) wait for the fix/recall from VW? and/or 2) register in the Maurice Blackburn class action? and/or 3) trade in for another VW model (assuming there is good incentives from the dealership/VW Autralia)?

I for one was considering trading in my golf before the scandal, but now since the mess broke out I am unsure what to do.

    Cheers

Join the class action and wait. Nothing will happen overnight and you will get sweet FA for a trade in ATM. No good getting knickers in a knot when no one knows what and when something may happen

Yeh. Wait until the shortage. VW aren't selling any at the moment.

I would have said if you love the car keep it and don't trade it in, but since you were thinking of doing that anyway you'll need to steel yourself that you'll probably now get less for your car unless you trade it a VW dealer, who might just support you with a better trade in price (if they don't, play the emotional card). With respect to the recall, at this stage I'm planning to ignore it. Lastly, I am not going to join the class action because I think this is just a legal firm exploiting disquiet and emotional distress.

    Hi

Was reading the German newspaper (Bild.de) earlier today and an article about VW considering a incentive for affected owners of pretty much giving a great trade-in price and big discounts if owner choose to purchase or upgrade to a new VW car. It seems the 1.6tdi alone is a headache to be rectified as software alone cannot fix the problem. They were talking of about 10 hours per car plus parts. Those deals could still come our way, just nothing official as yet.

I for one hope all those wishing to score money from a company due to some law firm scraping the bottom of the barrel fail. I run a business and it's tough enough. What have you lost that needs compensating? Instead, consider how you have had such great fuel economy & power over the years; and not had to refill an adblue bottle every month. Saving money the whole time... Appreciate what you have

You have a point if you run your business in a fair manner. If you do not run your business in a fair manner your point is moot.

Over the years, I've had customers who haven't paid what's owed for my hard work and goods costing me a fortune. Typically, they're scumbag scammers or white collar criminals. To get the law to provide justice is a joke. Unless you're happy to spend a fortune to get solicitors involved.

If you're referring to VW & the emissions breach, your point is moot. They didn't rip you off, treat you unfairly nor provide you with a product that didn't perform as expected.

Really? You can't see any immediate & future losses?

Trade-in value of the car is immediately lost.

In all likelihood, power will be lost & running costs will increase.
