Volkswagen under investigation over illegal software that masks pollution

Just wondering how our 2010 2.0 tdi 103kw 4cyl DSG multivan is not one of the engines with the emissions codes?
I've done the VIN check(thanks for the link guys) that came back negative but AFAIK its the same engine fitted to the golf, amarok and tiguan all of whom are in the code crapola.
If anyone could explain why our identical engine has a unique ECU please help?

I've mentioned it before a few times. Your engine is in a north south orientation. They were able to fit the adblue. This is why your car is fine.

Your car will be part of the MLB platform. They are fine.

The MQB platform is for transverse engine mounting. These vehicles with the EA189 engine are the ones in question.

I thought that because the car (in my Mk6 at least) was sold as "Euro 5 compliant" therefore it must be Euro 5 compliant even if the rules in Australia stipulated less at the time. Am I right in this? Feedback welcome...

As I understand it, your MkVI would only need to be Euro 5 compliant in jurisdictions where Euro 5 was required at the time of its manufacture, or perhaps importation (let's say manufacture for ease of understanding). Therefore, if it was built before 1/11/13 it only needs to be Euro 4 compliant in Australia, even if it was required to be Euro 5 compliant in Europe at the time. However, it's all academic really. If your model is a pre-1/11/13 Class II car, it must have NOx emissions lower than 0.33g/km; but it looks from the tests undertaken by the Center for Alternative Fuels, neither of the VWs came close to meeting that value, let alone the more stringent Euro 5 standards which they were supposedly built to meet.
