Sit back and wait for a letter from VWA my Nitrous Oxide Emitting friend! Speculation from the UK/US that it could involve more than just a software re-program but possibly an AdBlue conversion but we'll have to wait and see (means I'll have to put my own mods on hold until this blows over...)

Anyway, Since VWA have been slow in getting info out, I've compiled a quick list of VW cars equipped with EA189 engines that may be affected if it hasn't been done already

    Golf Mk VI
77TDI/Bluemotion (CAYC), 103TDI (CFFB, CBDB), GTD (CFGB)

    Jetta MkV/1KM
    103TDI [MY09-10] (CBDB), 125TDI Highline (CEGA)

    Jetta MkVI/1B
    103TDI (CFFB)

    Tiguan
    103TDI (CBAB, CFFB)

    Passat B6
    125TDI Highline [MY09-10](CBBB)

    Passat B7
    125 TDI Highline (CFGB)

    Passat/CC
    125TDI (CBBB, CFGB)

    Eos TDI
    MY09- (CBAB, CFFB)

    Polo
    66TDI (CAYB)

    Caddy
    TDI250 (CAYD), TDI320 (CFHC)

Source here cross-checked with Carsales data (Engine codes not provided/partially provided for Audi and Skoda). All the above engine codes are part of the "EA189" family.

Presumably you'd have to include 4 cylinder diesel versions of Audi A1, A3, A4, A6, Q3, and Q5 built since 2009; as well as most diesel Skodas including the Fabia, Octavia (including RS TDI), Yeti and Superb sold to date.

I may have missed a few vehicles from the list and it may not be totally correct but I've found this a good way of procrastinating from doing uni work
    2010 B6 Passat 125TDI Black, leather, RNS510, boringly comfortable

Interesting link. I'm trying to see if both my cars (110TDI MY13 and 130TDI Passat Alltrack) are affected.

The only link I can draw from your links above is under the section titled: 2.0 R4 16v TDI CR 81-176kW

Under that section, it lists what appears to be my engine outputs.

    110 kilowatts (150 PS; 148 bhp) @ 3,500 rpm; 320 newton metres (236 lbf·ft) @ 1,750–3,000 rpm — CRBC Audi A3, Golf VII, SEAT Leon

    and

    130 kilowatts (177 PS; 174 bhp) @ 4,200 rpm; 380 newton metres (280 lbf·ft) @ 1,750–2,500 rpm— CGLC Audi A4, Audi A5, Audi A6

No mention of the Alltrack's in that second line though.

Should both these car be added to your list? * Yes, the final say is with VW...

Update: I've just checked my MY13 Alltrack and it's engine code is CFGC, the Golf's is CRB. And I'm going to investigate the rest tomorrow...

Has anyone tracked the second hand sales pricing of EA189 equipped vehicles on CarSales in the last several weeks?

So if we are subjected to this 'fix' what will it mean in terms of performance, fuel economy and long-term durability of engine components?

ACCC consumer protections might come into play... We were sold one thing that with a mandated change, we're no longer getting.

Supposing you're assumption is correct.. How will you prove it? Dyno before and after?
Simpler to avoid the recall surely if you're concerned.

How would removing wipers and taping over gaps improve rolling road fuel efficiency. Hahaha hahaha
