If by hate you mean posting with links to trusted sources of info then by all means yes lol. You come in here and just rant. No clear thoughts from you. Point out specifically what you have an issue with and back it up with relevant info or shut up.

And if they did, I can imagine any poor sod who draws the short straw to maintain an official VW presence on this thread would be flamed to ashes by angry disappointed customers

Maybe the 'labels' used on this forum are part of the problem in as much as you are basically labeled a VW 'fan' or 'fanatic'.
There is, it seems, no acceptance of being unaligned and simply enquiring.
Anyone who doesn't fall in to line is an enemy it seems.

And so the thread, which always only had a tenuous grip on reality, descended into name-calling, the name-callers hammering away on their keyboards, the name-called thinking they could win the internets by trying to reason with the name-callers...., and everyone else laughed at the grown people who think they can win arguments on internet forums.

How about everyone stick to topic?

Good point, I'll restrain my response. As others have tried to explain, this is going in circles.
I propose that future comments be similarly restrained. And, toned down. Enquiries, links & discussion.
Rants & aggression will be responded to in same manner.

I started reading MB's Retainer & Costs Agreement.

I'd HIGHLY recommend that anyone contemplating signing up to ANY class action take a VERY CLOSE HARD look at the full agreement. You're responsible for carrying out your own due diligence before you commit. If you don't quite understand the terminology used in the Agreement or the phrasing of the clauses contained therein, FIND OUT.

You gotta go into these things eyes wide open.

    This might be informative:

No win no fee cost agreement consumer information. Queensland Legal Services Commission publication, but you get the gist of what to watch out for. https://www.lsc.qld.gov.au/__data/as...-agreement.pdf

No doubt there's quite a lot of legalese in there.

I'm suspecting that there's going to be something indicating a range of costs that will be incurred on an hourly basis being done by the lawyers and payment for these services will firstly come out of the settlement which may come from Volkswagen. The remainder will be distributed evenly amongst those signed up to the class action. So probably in reality when there's something close to $1000/hour, costs of $2/photocopy plus other miscellaneous sundry, after the initial fees are settled, the members of the class action gets a Snickers bar each?

Based on my reading of the contract, claimants may even end up with a LEGAL bill if the settlement amount doesn't cover the litigation costs + disbursements + uplift fees. But hey, I may be wrong.

I heard that Mauris. Blackburn today launched a legal action in the Supreme Court. It is seeking $10,000 for every person who has registered a class action with them .
