Email just received from VW saying that recalls will begin with the Amarok.
So far nothing saying about incentives at all...

These stickers are on sale in VIC, lol.

Present - '11 Ford Focus LW Diesel (PSA DW10C)
Received an email.
Recall will begin in March. A bit later on for 1.6L units.
I'm going to wait and wait and wait for reports of what is happening with the engines pre/post recall. I might even send an email into VW that they should be offering to pay for my servicing for the rest of the time I own the car for accepting the recall work to be done.
Golf mk7 parts for sale.
As long as it is a voluntary recall I plan to ignore it.
Only thing that is possibly tempting is to get the inlet pipe airflow smoothing insert that they show in the youtube video and install that myself to see if that improve performance/mileage without allowing VWA to tamper with my ECU.

The car isn't ADR compliant. The fix makes the car ADR compliant. While the recall is on it won't be an issue as you can say 'I've not got around to it" but in 12, 18 months time... that won't fly. I'd be careful about what you say online and to others.
Hit another car - Toyota, minor bingle probably nothing will come of it. Hit a few cars, power pole, and into a house. I suspect the insurance company will spend the time and effort to determine if they are not liable.
There are all these little caveats in insurance policies. DUI - policy is void. Speeding in excess of a nominal amount over the limit - policy is void. Driving while un licenced (because you forgot to renew) null and void. Driving a non ADR compliant car (exhaust, suspension, imported tyres not sold here, incorrect sized tyres that were not OEM etc can affect ADR compliance...) they'll find a way not to pay...
Cheers and thanks Minke, if and when it becomes a Mandatory Recall then I will reconsider my options.

I'm not sure where it says it is a voluntary recall. In fact the wording is:
might suggest it is less than voluntary due to 'regulatory requirements'Originally Posted by Recalls Australia

Excerpt from the first email that I received from VWA after I registered with them:
I have received a number of follow up emails and announcements from VWA, none of which have indicated that the recall has been changed from voluntary to mandatory.Originally Posted by VWA
