Actually likely to be driving another tomorrow for a 400km plus one day rental.
Really like this part of the world. Second trip down here. Combination of seemingly endless plains flanked by towering mountains and glaciers is pretty special. Highly recommended so long as Surfers Paradise/Gold Coast is not what you are looking for!

I don't know driving on the Gold Coast can be pretty scary these days suicidal new light rail is due for start up very soon , it will be interesting to see how many accidents happen then . Driving through Surfers is like driving in some wild countries all the high rise give you the canyon drive experience even on flat roads , not to mention rampant tourists /drugged out posers/ bikies ets I could go on and on it is a real adventure sometimes . And then once a year they let loose some idiots in huge noisy V8 powered cars to drive at breakneck speeds around the streets of Surfers LOL.
