Maybe that's one of the reasons why some states lost the event (others could follow) How much should I pay... Tiguan pricing. I bet you that BMW, Porsche and other marques don't have such threads. When manufacturers can't sell the cars with the reasonable profit they start cutting of what is not needed. I wouldn't give anything for free to someone who bargains me down to the rock bottom price when buying my products, that's for sure.
The last year they probably couldn't sell the tickets, so I was offered 3 for free. I gave them all to my daughters and sil in their mid 20's, knowing that they needed it more than I. Why 3 and why me? I don't know? Maybe it was because I didn't drive a hard bargain the last 4 times when we were buying a new car from them.
... and wait there is still more; the models that come to AU are missing the features (not talking that some don't even make it to AU), because of the buyers who don't want to pay even a fair price for the new car.
The end of rant.

Yes I think that's probably a large part of the reason. They couldn't justify filling half the spots up with "ring-ins". I know in the Eastern states the spots fill up very quick so no problems with filling the places.
Shame that SA VWers didn't support the event... and now we don't have an event.

I'll be there on the Wednesday (wonder if I can get the $100 discount again) in the Roc so I'm not too worried. Glad I did the Progression course when the GTI's are R where available (best test drive of a new car I'll ever enjoy) - I wonder what they did with all those cars. Being a change-over year it's hard to know if they'll go back to the GTI next year when the Mk7 is available (this event also has a strong marketing focus remember).
Given the kind of people I saw there last time (not too many enthusiasts) and the driving exercises (slalom, braking/swerve from set speed), there probably isn't a huuuuge need for the faster GTI/R anyway. You won't be accelerating that fast through the cones (only on your laps at the end) and they all have XDA now as well.
Manufacturers sell cars for a set amount, and then dealerships and distributors determine how much they want to sell the cars for at retail. They absolutely do not sell cars for "rock bottom price", they just convince you that they do. The truth is there's a lot more room to move on the RRP for a car than they make it out to be.
By the sounds of it just local. They rang today to ask if I was attending. I asked if there would be a GTI. Was told no not released till November. So I said no. It's a stupid time in the day and mid week. I work 15 min from the track but can't even go at lunch due to there stupid timings. Seems a ploy to just get those that are serious enough to take the day of or leave work to test drive. Is this being put on by VW or the local dealer(s)? May have to contact my local VW dealer...
When are the tickets going on sale? Was meant to be today and no emails and site is still register interest mode
Who knows - maybe they're preoccupied with the Golf 7 launch.
