I didnt know where to put this so i figured since it relates to just about everyone with a vag i thought it could go here and maby provide some people other than me with info.

I just bought a generic OBDII scan tool hoping it would tell me whats wrong with my dads daily but the thing does not want to link up with the cars computer. I understand that its suposta work with cars that are built after '96 and are obd2 compliant. I also understand that the obd2 generic scaners dont give as much info as a vag-com does but it should still read something shouldnt it?

or do vags only work with vag-com?

if they only work with vag-com.......whos free and has a vag-com?
