Seen it when I was working at the NT Police Workshop in Darwin... Silly police officer filled up with a tank of petrol into diesel Hilux, with catasrophic and amusing results... Engine ran away and punched a conrod through the block...

My heart goes out to you mate, that would have to be about the worst thing you could do....but to be fair my mechanic brother who is a guru with cars tanked his own diesel with unleaded, and only realised when he went to pay, so even those in the know can accidently do it.

Hope it's not a big repair bill.

A friend of mine did it when the two adjacent pump handles were twisted and he untwisted them and then used the wrong one. Luckily he realised before he'd put much in. Still cost to flush out the tank.

I'm still worried I'll put Ultimate Diesel in my car instead of Unleaded -_-

Get your mechanic to drain the tank and flush the fuel lines. Add fresh diesel. Change the fuel filter, bleed system and crank the engine. Might take a while to start but if you're lucky and she didn't go too far on the unleaded it should be OK. This happens more frequently than you would imagine. If it won't go then as NickZ said, try your insurance company, I've seen them pay out on it.
