    Trouble with links not working

    Greetings to all the experts
Lots of interesting links on this forum. But they do not work for me.
Only way to use them is to right click, look at properties, copy, then paste into a new tab.
Using MS explorer 8, compatibility mode turned on, latest copy of Symantic anti virus, and running Windows 7
Have torn my hair out checking possibilities.
(Have found a similer problem on a couple of other sites, but otherwise all other links I come accros work OK
Yes, I know, not really a Watercooled item, but so darned frustrated
    Cheers

Most links in threads open in a new window so it is likely that the popup blocker is stopping this. You can add this site address to the popup blocker exclusion list, see if that makes a difference.

Can you post a link to a couple of threads where a link doesn't open for you, that way we can have a check and see what's going on.

Popup blocker kept turned off. (Found this trap a while ago)

Not able to directly copy URL, had to go into properties then copy and now paste here! (Same problem)

Upgrade Golf Headlights to Osram Nightbreaker | my-gti.com

Will now see if this works

    Naah, same as before!

By the way, earlier (shortly after joining) was able to click onto [More] under the standard emotives beside this reply and see a lot more! Now does not work.

    Edit post. added another link.

If you right click on a link do you have 3 options at the top of the popup menu; Open, Open in new tab, Open in new window?

    Do the second two work?

Have just found that if I "Copy shortcut' then paste into blank tab, this works also. Not perfect, but a lot better

Does not work for [more] relating to emotives (smilies). this is javascript.

Is this your own personal computer or a work one? If work then I suspect they have applied a group policy to lock down IE.

"Open" and "Open in new window" (during right click button pressed only) shows URL at bottom of screen, but no further action.
"Open in new tab" brings up the new tab, but no action. No change to address shown top of screen address bar. No sign of rotating ''busy" icon.

Pc is private. Acting as if there is a general block for any action outside of current web page.

All those links are working perfectly for me in Firefox and Safari. I'll boot up one of the windows machine and give it a bash over there too, but for the moment it looks like it might be an issue with your computer

I just tried IE8 normal and IE8-64Bit with all latest updates, latest Chrome, also latest Firefox and latest Safari on a fully up to date Window 7 Premium 64-Bit with no dramas at all in any of the browsers. I'm also running McAfee Security Suite.
    Cheers,
