In that case I would suggest going to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced (tab) and click on the Reset button to completely reset IE to default settings.

    OH MY GOSH
I found it, or rather, a solution.
Added VWWatercooled to "Trusted sites" and made sure, this time, check box not ticked!

Still not sure what problem with [rest], to bring up extra smilies. But appears to now be a Java script problem with my computer. even if cannot find cause, can live with this one

Thanks again all, for help and patience.

    Thanks Adam
Had tried that, also tried altering a few things, taking careful not, resetting them again, as well as general all over reset.
But as per my previous post, had left "Require server verification" check box ticked aas per default. Now having unticked it, links work.

Although I think have found at least one solution, I will look into this. Keep IE 8 for MS updates!

Actually IE8 is pretty good. I use it as my second browser after Chrome. Firefox is a bit too bloated and clunky now and can't be bothered with Safari.
    Cheers,

But the ads!!! AdBlockPlus and FireFox is pure WIN! You don't get a faster browsing experience than that compbo simply because no ads load... Plus you save on bandwidth with some many images/sounds etc not being loaded.

Doing tech support I have all the browsers across a whole pile of VM's. It's handy to be able to boot into another OS/browser to see how something works/looks.

For myself I use Firefox first and Safari second (becuase I'm a Mac Man ). At work it's Firefox then IE.

In reality I don't have major issues with any of them, they all seem to do what I need when I need it, but then I don't use much other than Firefox full time so the others are for testing for simple tasks to "check" something.
