    Temora 1000

    Hi folks,

I've been watching with interest, over the past few months, an event coming up called the 'TEMORA 1000'. Someone has privately taken on the initiative of shutting down a run way for planes, opening it to cars, and letting them belt down the runway for a 1000m timed sprint.

It's a CAMS regulated event, sponsored by Coates Hire and Meguiars. From 930am, SATURDAY OCTOBER 22 2011, Temora NSW.

I see we have a lone Golf R in attendance!! I will be going to cheer him on, and anything else from the VAG stable....including the Gallardo!

Rather than an official web page, look for Temora 1000 as a Facebook page.

    See you out there!

I've entered in my Elise. This is a bit of an odd event for a Lotus but I like to try different events and venues.

The guys behind the event have put in a helluva lot of hard work and if this is successful it should be even better next year.

Entries are officially closed but there may be a couple of spots still available. It would be great to see how a couple of workshop tuner VWs perform over the longer distance.
If you dig a hole and it is in the wrong place, digging it deeper isn't going to help.

I have been to the Temora air show and it's a beautiful location to spend a day watching impressive machinery doing stuff

I may even be in the region around the date, might be worth a family day out.

Look forward to seeing you there Banzai! I've got a mate who is onto his 2nd Elise now. First was a 111R and now, a Rover powered S.

I'm trying to get him to come along!!!

Would be awesome to see some of you there as spectators and as entrants next year

    Was in Temora yesterday.

Had a go down the strip, ran 25.25 @ 201km/h
Braked to full stop in 170m. Heaps of room to spare

That was my 2nd run on Friday. Doesn't really look fast (201km/h) , and maybe not compared to some of the cars on here, but man it was fun!!!!

Both my wife and I are entered in this event - can't wait to get the opportunity to open the cars up over a standing kilometre as well as engage in a bit of 'my car is faster than yours' with my better half.

The Golf R that's entered ran at the Wakefield Park track day organised by swingn back in August - I had the opportunity to be taken for a few passenger laps and came away greatly impressed. Looking forward to seeing what it can do down the strip.

If anyone wants to head up to take a look there's 5 of us entered from Canberra (including the Golf) who are making the trip up and back on the day if you want to join the convoy or grab a lift.
