Hahaha nice one mate, love the ''mums cookies'' lol.
With the return to work after 6 week holidays looming on the horizon, I had to make a move from Sydney back up to Townsville...
So with the car packed and fueled, and at 3am monday morning, I tanked up on Mother and strong coffee, drained the bladder, and set off...
I got to Brissy about 1pm local time, and met up with my mate who I was to stay with for the next couple of nights...That night I also met up with Trent, Jon and Coxy for a bit of a chin wag.
I left Brissy on the Wednesday afternoon and headed out via Toowoomba to Miles and north to Moura. I got there just after dusk after about 6 hours.
Mums choc chip bikkies she cooked for my trip...
Then today I returned to Townsville via Rockhampton...Had a good run of about 8.5 hours.

Yea love the cookies, not the bug splatter on the windows!!
Car is looking good too, but what a massive drive, and by yourself
ps. Wishing you had a 6th gear?
The worst thing is going for 6th gear at about 140km/h after overtaking another Grey Nomad or road train and finding a bad sound and thin air...I did that a about a half dozen times...
I love driving by myself, and find myself getting into a zone...Today I managed to operate on a packet of Twisties, and a can of Mother...
In total, the drive is about 24 hours, but it is an ok drive to do in 2 days. Its a drive I have done more times than I can remember, but this time I felt like going a different way, and found a really cool road between Mt Morgan and Rockhampton.
By the way...You manage to see though the bugs...It started raining about 60km South of Townsville, so it managed to wash the majority of dead wildlife off my car.

nice little road trip there. I've said it before, but would really like to have a section dedicated to road trips.
It's surprising how well the polo goes on the open road, unfortunately my longest trip has only been about 350kms out to Bunya Mountains from brisbane.
Good stuff mate. Good to finally meet you (dig those chops).
Cheers,
Trent

what you need is a big shirt poket and a long straw. that way you can have the mother in your pocket and the straw connected straight to your face! - hows that for hands free!
that's fair roadtrip though. I'd love to do it in a mk 1 someday!
It was great meeting you too Trent...
I have to say that the drip was made so much earlier though having my new Ipod connector...I fitted the XcarLink Ipod adapter, and cannot be happier...Its was made even better after I bought an Iphone window holder so I could get the music videos going on it.
The Polo has now done the following trips:
Sydney To Darwin...3 days
Darwin to Townsville...2 days
Townsville to Sydney 3 times now...
The only thing I really think the Polo GTI needs is a 6 speed box...
