Snow/outdoor clothing

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy snow/outdoor clothing online. I'm after some waterproof pants, jacket, and hiking shoes (nothing too hardcore). I just can't justify $300 locally on a jacket so thought I'd see if anyone knows a good place online that ships to Australia.

i agree... why pay $300 for a CRAP jacket locally, when $80 will get you a sick columbia jacket that's like, 15,000mm waterproof rated?

i've used both of them, for everything from goggles, to HD helmet cams, to snow jackets, and snowboards as well. they're both really well priced (especially compared to local r*page), and reliable as ufck.

p.s. as a snowboarder of 14 years, if i may make a suggestion.... i know lots of people like snowboard branded clothes because they're "trendy", but dont overlook "ski brands" like columbia or helly hansen, if you're actually going to use them on the snow (you can get them just as baggy, but with a more functional fit / cut, comfier, and WAY lighter).

Check out dogfunk.com mate. I've ordered a few things from there and they've got decent prices. Most brands (Burton etc) don't allow US sites to ship to OZ so you've just got to find what brands they allow.

but yeah. i've just checked the backcountry site, and they've added HEAAAAAAPS of brands to the "dont ship outside the US" list...

maybe get in contact with them via their online chat and see if they can make exceptions for telephone purchases etc...

i was in kathmandu yesterday and they had "$600" jackets marked down to $220

Haha, Kathmandu are rip off merchants... $220 is is what you would pay in the USA any day of the week... After seeing what kathmandu, North Face, Columbia and Burton et al go price wise in the USA and Canada, I never buy in Australia now... It also helps to have friends in the USA to get the gear sent to them, then on to you...

Freight forwarding services work wonders for business's that have embargo's on shipping to Australia.

When i was in Japan and NZ there were a tonne of people wearing The North Face gear, i would probably reccomend that.

Backcountry is brilliant, i've spend thousands on those guys.



However, over the last 12 months theyve hugely increased the range of gear they wont ship to Oz.

I use www.hopshopgo.com as a forwarding agent and they are brilliant, and cheap too.

for example, backcountry quoted me $170 freight on one order and HSG did it for me for $90.

you can basically shop anywhere with HSG, even if the host site won't accept your Oz credit card, just give the details to HSG and they will buy for you.

Another good site to buy from is Sierra Trading Post Their range isnt as good as backcountry but their prices are typically lower and their freight is less than half.

I bought a Columbia jacket costing $600 locally, for $135 ex sierra, and a pair of snowboard boots $600 local or $235 ex backcountry
