    Smart phone wars.

Need opinions.... and yes open floodgates

    Apple iPhone 4s
    Samsung Galaxy SIII
    Nokie Lumia 900
    HTC One X
    Motorolla, Sony, Blackberry ...

and the others, probably rolling with crOptus again, https://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile...ilelandingpage

Currently have an old iPhone I do like it, just not sure if the 4s is really worth the extra coin over the others, and wouldn't mind a change to expand my mind.

Good camera, good battery, and a nice easy to glance at and read screen (simple colours, easy to read, and don't want to go fishing through folders just to turn an alarm on etc) are important.

This has been covered well over a million billion times on the internet, but would like the VWW opinion before I treat myself to a new phone/get buyers remorse for buying something rubbish.

I have an HTC Incredible S and the battery life isn't too hot.
I did have a battery saver app that switched off the data unless you opened up the phone. It was good for the first revision, then an update came out that ruined it. It stopped going on line and you have to switch data off and back on to make it work.
Battery life was improved significantly though.
I have a car cord to use the Navigator, so plug that in if I am going anywhere in the car, just to fill the battery up.
I like it as a phone though.

I'll probably avoid HTC, they look cool and I like their operating system, but heard too many complaints from friends.
I think the Samsung is in front for now (have put all of 10 minutes thought/research into it), it is a cumbersome thing but does seem to keep up with the apple and cost less.

Nokia looks pretty cool too and have good memories of the bulletproof ones I've had in the past, no idea how they stack up though.

im in the same boat atm, contract is ending so time to start a new one and a fresh phone.
Currently have a Nokia E72 (yes... a keypad people) which is just backwards when it comes to internet and things like that.
Had a play on a few phones the other night including a iphone3 or 4 and a samsung i think, both were pretty impressive and similar.
Keep this thread updated with what you find :p

I have Galaxy Note and it's an awsome phone. I'm with Optus and don't have very good reception in the house, so all the past phones I had struggled to get the signal, not the Galaxy Note. Also it has strong GPS receiver, so I don't have to use data for navigation.

I had a Sony Xperia X10 for about 2 years and the only thing that went wrong was the wi-fi network @1.5 years and Virgin fixed that within 2 weeks and gave me a decent enough loan phone (LG P500 smartphone) in the meantime. I'm probably upgrading to the Xperia Arc S around February time and I haven't heard any complaints about it other than the concave design on the backside can take some time to get used to. Personally I would avoid iPhone but that's just me. I don't see how it is worth extra over the others. The Galaxy Note and Galaxy S3 are very good too if you don't mind having a very large phone. At the moment at Virgin, an S2 Galaxy is only $29 a month + $5 for phone and Xperia Arc S is $29 a month + $0 for phone. Personally I would also avoid HTC as others have said, they seem to lack updates and support quite badly.

I would look at Sony's and Samsung's offerings imo.

I think you have to work with 2 main areas, OS and hardware.

The reason I've come to love the iPhone is for the apps. Last I looked the range and development of apps is far more advanced for IOS iver Android and the gap is only growing for English users. As for Nokia, it's has big backing in Asia, but western market and thus apps are lacking.

I wouldn't buy the 4S, the 4 is cheaper and much the same, if you hang on until Sept, the 5 may be out, but not expecting major improvements.

If you just want mail, camera, etc, have a go with each in the store. I think in terms of hardware they are all fairly similar.

I'm looking at the HTC 1X when my contract I'd up in September. Quad core processor (iPhone 4 has a single core and 4S has dual core), interoperability with iTunes (I have and iPhone 4 and iPad 1 now), so this is a bonus, and I have heard nothing but good things about it so far.

What's the music like on the Samsung? I had an old Nokia that you could just drag and drop music onto, send songs, use as ringtones etc, kinda getting sick of the amount of hoops and terms and conditions etc apple have.
