    Cool Small car syndrome

    Hey all,

Since owning a Polo, I've had repeated comments about owning a 'girls' car, simply due to the diminutive size of the vehicle. The car is definitely not a feminine car. Every female I know has commented on it being very 'serious' citing "I like the Nissan Micra better as it's more fun, this car is too technical and boring. I want colours!".

Just broadly, it's fascinating that people associate the relative size of a vehicle with femininity/masculinity.

That said, I should probably drive a Ford/Holden ute, drink VB and watch ACA/TT (and believe it) and follow Footy like a religion getting into fights with anyone from another team. Being a complete moron is manly right?

    Hilarious.

I know what you mean. I had a MINI prior to the Golf. My response to anyone commenting on the size of the MINI was "people who drive big cars are compensating for certain bodily areas. Which is why I drive a MINI"

OH on train: "Check out the poofy new VW Beetle. Feel sorry for the fella in the ad. What a poof."

I should caveat that these two fellows probably had the combined IQ of the debris that gets stuck in my tires now and then.

I used to get that with my Mk3, until I slammed it on wide steelies and scraped subframe everywhere.

I get called a fag all the time for driving a MKVI GTi.

Which is why I keep an R32 GTR in the Garage, I never drive it, it's just part of my 'fag offset scheme'

You should hear one of my sisters boyfriend... He thinks that guys should only drive cars with V8's and the like namely commodores and constantly calls VW's in general girls cars which is a completely different opinion to everyone in my family (apart from my sister/his girlfriend). And I completely love my VW's of all kinds and hope to have a VAG product for most if not all of my life, at least at the moment
