You don't need a fancy expensive camera to get a good macro shot, in fact a lot of pro's will carry a compact for macro work.

I took this in 2004 on a trip to the jungle in the north of Thailand, just with an old Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS1 I think it was:

not true dude, the 400D was the model before the 1000D

the specs are the exact same compared to each other, settings and some button positions are the only thing that is not the same, the 1000D is the facelifted 400D

    Ahh...right!

I always thought with the Canons they start from the bigger number and gradually decreases as the price gets higher.

    My bad

you're right, they do. At the moment canon starts at 1000D (which is a facelifted 400/450), then the 500/550 range, then 40/50/60D, then 7D, all of these are aps-c sensor cameras (1.6 x crop factor) & the body size changes with the 1000 being the smallest & the 7 being a full size SLR. The 5DII is the first of the full frame cameras (35mm) sensor with the new 1DIV being the top of the range.

I think this is all correct at the time of typing, at the rate that canon are releasing new product there will probably be a new model on sale as I finish this!

probably got the new sensor nice and dusty playing around with hand holding my 50mm 1.4 reversed to the body today...

    Very cool shot, McDub.

I'm only new to this stuff, but everyone has been giving me plenty of ideas, which is cool.

I took this shot with my phone, but I still think it looks cool. It's a smear head, collar and sleeve we made at work.

A couple of shots I took on Saturday..

And I was playing around with doing macro shots today..
