to get the most out of a good lens(and camera) you need to shoot in manual , you can pick all the variables and the results(when you hit it) are outstanding
Its definitely cheaper from Perth to NZ, coz of the additional airfare, but if your in sydney or melb then you can drive yyour own car which cuts the costs down.
NZ overall is cheaper, but there is no on-snow/resort accommodation like Thredbo. You have a 30-45 minute drive each way every day, ehicvh is a pain if you have a hord of kids to take
