Should I sell Sooty and get a VR6?

In the interest of reducing costs I've had the thought of selling Sooty for a more affordable car.

I have 2 years left on the lease, $17g's owing and there are 2 options:

    - Re-Finanance and reduce costs that way
    - Buy a VR6 for $8000 and get out of debt quicker

I do know about higher fuel costs, running repairs and such, but really I drive 12kms return (if i drive and dont ride) and barely use my car any more.

    I wouldnt do it.
The polo is probably faster, cheaper to run, more comfortable, isnt 15 years old and prone to some massive failure at any point.

You know me, I love my VR6s but the above scenario wont work in your favour. You could easily buy a vr6 and end up with a $2000+ repair bill a few days later.

If you want to save cash sell the polo and drive the mk1

keep the polo. great car, just refinance it so you have more cash to live on. ride your bike to save more money. (not that it costs that much to run)

or fix the mk 1 up already, and have that and the bike, and be a true mk 1'er and soley drive a mk 1 daily! (like a real man...lol)

I agree with the others don't sell it, sooty is unique . If you get a vr6 you will end up just pooring heaps of money into it to get it where you want it and next thing you know you will have spent so much you'll be thinking to yourself "why did i do that for".

Josh, I have to say mate, if you've honestly thought about getting a VR instead of keeping the Polo I think you need a royal VW backhand!!!

VR's are dogs now. Nobody has a perfect one and even if it's close there's still always things to fix or buy. If I were you mate, I'd either keep the polo if you can, or look at a mk4 golf 2L or something...they're cheap and easy, if you buy a goodun it won't cost you much for repairs etc, and they're in the price range

yeh, it was a bit of a silly thought. But I thought I'd put it out there.

Sooty will be staying, for better or worse

it really wouldn't make sense to sell it, costs so little to run!

when i had my vr it was a dream to drive. gorgeous little car and i will ALWAYS have a soft spot for mk 3's. hell, even driving dean's white one as a loan car when i got my pogo serviced, it brought back memories.

including having to get the head gasket replaced within a few months of buying it, THEN a couple of weeks later, water pump went.

i love them so much, but i think in this case, sooty should stay for all the right reasons.

p.s. josh, have gumption and slot a vnt17b in!
