Cameras in Qld take two photos - once for entering the intersection on a red then 1second later. Probably similar in other states. It sounds like you were halfway across the intersection when the light turned red, therefore the camera flashed. It will then take another photo 1 second later. If you are clear of the intersection on the second photo, you won't get a ticket.
You may have a defence of emergency, just write a submission to the issuing authority about what happened. If the photos deem it to be possible what happened, the you'd be suprised they will most likely pull the ticket. Photo may show car behind you stopping at the light right on your hammer.
A couple of cameras in qld now have the red light and speed camera built into them.
The yellow light ticket is usually for people who get pulled up and say I didn't go through the red, it was yellow. Same fine.
Hope it works out for you.
