1) Wank factor
2) To allow many of the idiots on the road to realise you are driving (you can't help but notice an Audi A4/5 with DRL's) for added driver safety.
3) Every now and then we get fog or more often heavy rain.

Rear fogs are the most annoying ones for me. I swear that some Hyundies and Subaru owners just press the light switch on the dash thinking that they have front foglights...
Holden need to be rolled for there front fogs on the Dunnydores.

Ah yes...foglights...a pet hate...generally, but especially the rear ones on Hyundais...with clueless drivers. It's a good thing I'm not judgemental and very tolerant, but one day.....

Bugger. Ahh well, I'll still drive with them on. I personally don't care what other users of the road think of my fog lights, but then again, I don't mind other road users that drive with them on.
I have them on for my own safety, nothing else...They are 55w globes for Christ sake, its not like trees and small furry animals spontaniuosly combust when hit by the beams of these hugely powerful globes.

Anyway, end rant. I have another 4 months before I can drive my car with the fog lights on again, then I will unleash the fury!!

I'm just not convinced this is a proactive measure to contribute to road saftey. Does anyone know the specifics? How do they define foglights?

Any of us with a mk2 KNOW how handy fogs can be. I can't see a bloody thing at night with just normal heads. A mk2 weak point.
If i use high beam i can see, but often it results in death threats by other drivers.
Fogs are gold and the only reason i still have a big bumper on the front

If they're installed and aligned properly front fog lights won't cause any problems. I can't remember a time I was ever dazzled by fog lights.

Everyday though I'm dazzled by idiots with their super whites and/or fake HIDs not being aligned properly.

Just like the road toll the real problems aren't being addressed.

I foresee a thread closure as these this topic always just degenerates.
