Thread: Rest In Peace Chris.

  1. #71

I have met Chris on many occasions since he bought those HAHA plates from a friend who owned a red Mazda 3MPS.

Chris was always fun and had a passion for VW....

His VR6 were always smick and he was always about on weekends.

He will be sadly missed, but this VW community will never let his memory fade.

    RIP Chris...

    Happy Motoring

R.I.P Chris, you will always be apart of the VW family and never forgotten

So very sorry to hear about this. I was utterly shocked when I saw the R.I.P. banner, and in disbelief as I read through the many memories and posts in this thread.

I didn't know him beyond this forum, but Chris was a real part of the vwwatercooled scenery and you just don't expect something like this to happen so suddenly and tragically.

If our governments and community groups really cared about saving young lives on the roads, they would realise that advanced driver training would help younger drivers to become more safe while driving and in being able to recognise the prevailing conditions and risks in all road situations. Advanced training would be far more valuable than the fixed location speed cameras, 3 years of P plate restrictions and arbitrary heavy fines our governments seem to think will protect us. This is a big country, where people not only love to drive, but often need to cover large distances in a multitude of conditions.

Speed certainly can be dangerous, but our systemic lack of advanced driver training, hopelessly bureaucratic P plate licensing system and continual media beat-ups really do nothing to further the safety and security of young drivers on our roads.

Best wishes to Chris, his friends and family.

This thread is abut the sad loss of a contributing forum member.

i am only making this comment after reading a thread on boost cruising website.

Let not bring in political discussions and spoil his memory,
it probably better have a separate thread regarding road toll and what should be done.

A life has been cut short by circumstances that was not for seen.

His family and friends will be going through a tough time with all sorts of questions, and also his passenger in the car will have to live with whatever happened.

Having known over past years a number of people who have passed away in accidents, and do not forget those who actually survive and have major disabilities that they have to live with for rest of their lives.
I am currently working on a project to help assist some of these people in wheelchairs etc.
FYI, there is a movement soon of starting a drift racing for wheel chair bound people in their wheel chairs.

Any way lets leave this thread for the memory Chris.

Final word is, the driver is responsible for how he drives behind the wheel, and on public roads you also have to drive expecting the unexpected, even if a tree falls on you, its a tough call, but serves as a reminder of how fragile we all are and how quickly a life can change.

R.I.P. Chris, is obvious you will be sadly missed my quite a lot of people.
All our thoughts go to your Family and friends.

P.S. i hope they have a excellent track up there, and remember if Moses tells you to come forth, try and get 1st place!!

    Rest in peace Chris.

I'd admired your car for a while and I'm glad I got to meet you at the bowls day. Never did it occur to me that I would never see you again.

    Hey all,

Alex (Maca) and I went to Chris' workplace today and dropped off some flowers and spoke to a florist about flowers and an arrangement for the memorial service. It's a really tragic loss and I can't begin to imagine how devastated I would feel, but I think that at this sad time that if we all showed our support for Chris that his family would really appreciate it.

We chose an arrangement that we think is really nice, and got a large VW badge (a repro chrome aircooled one) which will be included in the arrangement.

We will also be getting a card which will list all the members from VWW who wish to send their condolences; so we'll need everyone's names to include on the card (it might be nice to use our actual names rather than just screen names).

We were thinking that if everyone who is coming on Saturday or who wants to contribute would be able to chip in some money towards the arrangement then it might work out pretty well. Depending on numbers it might work out to be around the $20-each mark. We need to get back to the florist with the amount for the arrangement so they can work out how big to make it.

I will make a duplicate post in the other thread about all of this too.

If everyone who wishes to send condolences can please PM Maca or I with your name then that would be greatly appreciated.

What a massive loss for family, friends and the community.
I'm in no doubt he would have gone on to do many more great things for himself and others. So it's only 19 years that he was able to contribute and build his life, we can only now imagine what he would have made of the years foregone.
