Recommended Suppliers for quality parts ?

    Hiya,

new to the VAG world, so learning re various suppliers and the enormous cost differences in parts.

After some rear hubs for my 2024 Cupra Leon (spanish Golf), and it seems from the part number - 5wf501611 that the SKF VKBA 3644 is a solid alternate.

Have found it at Spareto (5WF501611 - Wheel bearing kit, wheel hub, wheel hub OE number by AUDI, CUPRA, SEAT, SKODA, VAG, VW | Spareto) for 136 Euro (A$226) shipped for a pair, or at Run Auto for A$313 (Just a moment...)

    Any other recommendations ?

Required as I think the ABS rings are damaged causing issues post a brake swap.

    Thanks

    Michael

Run Auto Parts, VAGParts and Automotive Superstore are my main go-to's for suppliers in Australia. Note that Automotive Superstore are quite generic (covering all bases) so mainly only look to them for things like brake disks etc. Sparesbox is another generic one.

For specific stuff (stuff that I know will be hard to source locally) I usually get the part number and search on Google or ebay. For example, I recently got some new exterior trim pieces for my nearly 10yr old Audi SQ5 and ordered them via ebay from a shop in Latvia - all brand new genuine parts in original packaging but just shipped from Latvia. Ive ordered a lot of parts over the years from USA, UK or other areas of Europe.

The issue you will have with your Cupra is that because its such a new car, a lot of websites will either not have your car listed, or if they do - they wont have much to offer. You are best to get part numbers and then Google/ebay those specific part numbers. Like you have already found out, lots of the parts used on your Cupra will also be used on various other VW/Audi models so you can cross reference part numbers.

Cheers, and that's how I came to those suppliers I listed.

When I looked at Run Auto, the hubs were listed as $163 ea (and 10% off), but today they are $10 more each - buggers !!

The pain in getting the part numbers from VW are they always want a VIN, and like some of the parts I'm after, are from another model.
I'll actually get the hub part numbers from Solitaire (main VW dealer here in Adelaide) before I stump up the cash.

    Cheers

Well, one piece of good news - Solitaire Auto confirmed the required part numbers as
    Wheel Hub - 5WA501611D (I had 5WF501611)
    Bolt - WHT007150 (same)
    Cap - 1J05011249C (same)

    Prices were $563, $14 & $14 EACH !!!!

Spareto lists the SKF VKBA 3656 as the equivalent (so slightly different to the SKF VKBA 3644 that I listed before), but still under 150 Euro shipped.

Fleabay has an option from the UK at about A$275 landed, and Run Auto Parts has them at $173 ea delivered (A$90 more than Spareto).

Armed with the correct part numbers from Solitaire, ordered replacement hubs from Spareto in Lithuania for a grand total of $250 vs Genuine parts that would be $1,360.

The replacement ones from Spareto are SKF VKBA 3656. Could have got them from Run Auto, but their price was $340 delivered.

    Can 2nd this .

Automotive superstore is great for quality brands and also cheaper options if you are trying to keep cost down.

Run Auto Parts are great I've found and Prestige Auto parts are another good alternative if your main objective is trying to keep cost down a bit without sacrificing quality.

If there is something really rare and you are desperate then I'd use Pelican Parts or ECS in the states to source some parts ,but prepared to pay through the nose for postage.

Pelican parts have a great range of cheaper to more expensive options for the same type of part required. I wanted a good quality water pump with a brass impeller instead of plastic and it came up with 5 different options . This is a good option if you cannot afford the best so you can choose a mid range priced product but still know it's good quality. Or alternatively you can buy the best they have which of course will be at a premium price.

Regarding that seller on eBay (VW Parts Original) I have also used them to buy a new original brushed stainless surround for my shifter as mine is all pitted and looks crappy. Great range of parts but be willing to pay a bit.

Another place I sourced parts from just recently was Serviceparts.com.au . I purchased a PCV valve from these guys on the 23rd Dec that arrived just before Christmas day so they are quick with postage and prices were pretty good.

True in regards to the Cupra being such a new car it may be slim pickings at the moment.
