>>>> PVW Aussie Special <<<
Howdy all,
This will be a bit long winded, but bear with me.
I first sent an email to Elliot Roberts, the editor of PVW magazine with this:
"Hello Elliot (not sure on the time difference! - night or day),
My name is Mal, I'm 21 years old and live in Newcastle, about 2 hours north of Sydney,
Australia. Avid dub fan, my dad bought a MkV GTI brand new in 05, I bought my first VW,
a 94 VR6 and then gave that to my sister, bought a Mk4 R32. Love the badge you could
say.
One of the more prominent figures in our "scene", Dom I'm sure has contacted you along
the way, however I personally feel there is a number of cars that are worthy of a
feature of sorts in your magazine.
Being far far away from all the big VW love of the continent, UK and the states makes
it harder for some of the cars to get exposure.
Anthony Mitchell - MkV R32 (white) currently on Wedsports, ADV1 on order. HPA R36TT
conversion (other cars include privately imported scirocco, golf R, lotus exige rebuilt
in carbon fibre with a 1.8T 20v bored to 2.2 and making 550hp + a beetle drag car)
Tendy Zhengy - JDM inspired MkV GTI, APR KO4, white (has probably 10 sets of wheels)
Jay (an american living in Townsville) Mk4 R32 that he brought with him, bora front
end, r line gear HRE's and lobster claws, orange highlights, built his own R32T,
wiretucked himself. Immaculate.
Pierre 8L S3, blue, GIAC "Stage 2+", BBS CK's
Jose, UG MkV R32, ABT sportsline supercharger kit, everything on this car is top notch.
Sammy and Dean - CW Mk6 GTI and BM MkV Pirelli. Both around 220 fwkw on Ko4. Sammy is
in the top 5 on the quarter on vortex 1/4 mile time. Dean hasn't run yet but his car is
beautiful.
Justin Fox (pretty much godfather of all new age tuning in Australia), track spec MkV
GTI
The threnthams in QLD, 2 Mk3 VR6's, son tragically passed away and they built his
projects as a legacy.
Rob's home done VR6T 4mo Bora + Dylan's Bora on whatever wheels he wants
Tim's Mk1 16vT. If Preen had his finished!!!!
Alex (KILLZ) Mk3 VR6 hi comp NA track spec build.
Van and Lora's Polo GTI's
Frenchie and Ross, 1 white and 1 black R36 wagon. Both have Brembo BBK and running ADV1
wheels at present.
There is a mint Mk1 in Melbourne, can't remember his name. But 2.0T, full custom carbon
fibre highlights, GT3 seats, custom magnesium wheels from france.
Obviously there is a criteria and structure to get into the magazine, but they haven't
been up for critique to see if they are up to scratch yet. Just letting you know in the
hope some of the dubbers over here can show off what we can do.
all post on
VWWatercooled Australia - VWWatercooled or VWGolf.net.au - Australian Volkswagen Golf Forums if you wished to look into things further
(or if too busy I can get the owners to email you pics and build details personally and
hopeully it all works out).
Congrats on the mag, love your Mk4, plenty of avid readers out this way trying to step
it up. Inspiration comes from the mag and the net!!
All the best, hope to hear from you soon!

"Hey Mal,
thanks for your email and sorry for the delayed response. yes, you're right, we're really busy. we have such a small team it's insane!!! thanks for your kind words regarding the magazine and our mk4.
anyway, we'd love to take a closer look at the cars in question. if you could perhaps forward some taster shots or, like you said, get the owners to contact us directly that would be cool.
i'll save this email on file and we'll go from there. We're very keen to highlight scenes from around the globe, after all, it's growing all the time!!!
Kind regards,
Elliott"
Basically, there are some guys here with some awesome ideas that build their cars for them but deserve some recognition for there work. The list of ars above was just what I could think of off the top of my head, but there are others. If you think yours, or someone else's car is up there with the best of them, flick Elliot an email with build details and some quality snaps to bring out the besst in your VAG mobile.
His email is: eroberts@unity-media.com
The list above is pretty generic, there are heaps more cars around with a story to tell
Cheers!
