Purchasing, Shipping and registering Vehicles within Australia

    Evening everyone,

A while back i was on the hunt for a mk4 R32, I ended up however staying in the same position at work (And with it came a 150 series Prado) and ended up changing my mind. There was some cracking cars for sale at the time.

Anyway, I have just made a move to a different role and start a new position in August. Thats when i hand back the Keys to the company car. I am currently looking at Mk4 R's, Mk5 R's and Mk6 GTI's. There is obviously more to choose from and better value cars if I source one outside of WA.

What kind of costs based on your experience am I likely to incur? Also how much grace do I have before I have to re register the car in WA and will this require it go over the pits?

    Thanks in advance

most sensible advice is go on the WA infrastructure website and look for your answer.

I bought a caravan over there and had to reregister the old one Cant remember how long you got as it didn't matter to me.
Might not be very long Its 14 days in Queensland as an indication and you have to get a roadworthy even for a caravan.
There is a lot of info on the WA website from memory.

I bought a couple of VW's over from QLD when I move 18 months ago and had to jump through a few hoops...
Technically rego from another state needs to be changed within 3 months of arriving, however this is where I got informed by WA Transport when registering one vehicle, If you have not been in ownership for more than 12 months prior to entering WA your third party insurance is null and void!?! Also for rego any vehicle not owned for more than 12 months requires it to go over the pits.
The other vehicle was a little easier as I had owned it for a few years, this one just required registering and changing plates over.

In short costs involved would be delivery, pits and rego.

P.S. Both vehicles were not re-registered until the QLD rego ran out

    Hope this helps...
