Im a little confused, so VW are saying the 2012 model Polo GTI has a different gearbox to the earlier models since its not being recalled?

Are there any 2012+ Polo GTI owners who have had issues with the DSG? I personally havn't had any problems with mine touch wood.

Explanation from VW Singapore (from The story behind VW's DQ200 voluntary recall):

Sulphur in the gear oil and an inorganic heat stabiliser in the plastic parts (iodine) of the mechatronic unit can cause metallic surfaces to be attacked and to suffer from electrolytic corrosion, in connection with high air humidity and high outside temperatures. Conducting particles can then settle between the circuit paths of the control unit and could cause a short circuit.

VWA have handled this issue pretty poorly from a customer perspective. deny, deny, deny then a turnaround after pressure looks terrible. However I can understand their reluctance to go down the path of a recall given the mainstream media response.

Now the public is under the impression that all VWs are potential death traps as there has been a recorded death attributed to this particular issue, despite the fact that the poor woman who was killed by a truck in Vic was in a 2008 manual Golf...

Where are they saying this? From the Drive FAQs I'm assuming? Unless we see it from VW, I'm not sure I'd count on that.

I have a MY12.5 built April 2012 which has had false-neutral issues. Notified my dealer, and heading in next month for that and 12m/15k service.

The recall.gov.au website just updated (I think) the recall and now says "All models manufactured between 2008-2011" not 2012...
So MY12 and MY12.5's arent affected?
