    Pre-Purchase Inspection

So I'm pretty set on a second hand MK6 GTI. I drove it today and it felt great and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, but for piece of mind I'd like a professional to check it out as well.

Are the NRMA checks reliable? Or are there better options? Ideally I want to get it inspected on Tuesday and pick it up next weekend.

A mobile inspection is a must (NRMA do offer this).

    Thanks!

A VW specialist would be better - not sure if there are any mobile options in Sydney ...

I found this guy. The car is in Gerringong so this would be perfect if someone can vouch for him?

Thought I'd update this thread. I went with State Roads who were well recommended. The inspection is taking place today and I'll update with my review once I receive the results.

Just up the road in Kiama is badly named Canberra VW Centre. They can probably do a pre-purchase inspection.

I went with State Roads in the end.

It cost me $289 for the Platinum report which was a comprehensive check + ECU scan (for error codes) + car history report.

+ $100 travel fee as the car was rural. I got a call back from the mechanic a couple hours ago who spoke to me about the car, and they'll be emailing through the full report with photos etc later. He was very friendly, and super thorough.

I'm happy, it was worth the money completely. I was also happy with the car when I drove it yesterday, so I'll be buying it!

    Good one!

I'm not sure what part of Sydney you are but here's a suggestion for the route home

I'm from Illawong (in the Sutherland Shire) so I'm very familiar with the National Park run : )
Went to Bundeena on Saturday morning. Great drive!

If I get the car during the day then I'll certainly take the scenic route!

I'm more than likely going to use State Roads for my independent vehicle inspection report also. It seems as if your experience with them was good?
the dealer I am buying from actually suggested them to me - should I be worried at all? I've read nothing but good things about State Roads.
$289 seems a little above the average cost for inspections, is their service worth it?

I found the service to be great, and well worth it. I paid an extra $100 for the travel excess (as the car was rural) but it was worth every cent for the peace of mind.
