    Polo 1.6 TDI Emissions.

Just entered my VIN into the global (except North America region) VW website. Seems the 1.6 TDI is indeed caught up in the emissions problems as my vehicle, VW regrets to inform, will be the subject of rectification programs(s). I still love it though, and may purchase the next Tiguan IF they handle this well.

Yep Audi said early on in this saga that their 1.6TDI was affected, so I more than suspected the Polo would be too. Will be interesting to see what their fix for this is, hopefully it's something that doesn't increase fuel consumption or decrease performance as some people are suspecting it will do.

For those curious Diesel Info : Volkswagen UK

Agree Alex, i bought the TDI for the torque and easy fuel economy figures. If i end up getting TSI figures i could've saved $2500...

This is a screenshot of a Motoring.com.au article I just read, interestingly it says the 2.0L ones will only need software changes, but the 1.6L will require software and mechanical/hardware changes. Interesting.

What a crap situation to be in, so the Australian models are now receiving modifications? I note that initially we're exempt because our omissions aren't that strict.

Simple. Just ignore the recall notice. Don't take it in

Unless they're doing full engine replacements or whole car replacements, as some news outlets are reporting. New engine in a 5 year old Polo would be mad! New car would be awesome too lol.

But at the moment, no one knows what the fix will be. It's possible they'll make changes which will not change the driving characteristics or fuel consumption. Who knows?

Haha yep Alex, no panic yet. I'd like to think im practical enough to see they stuffed this up. If they make amends well, I will definitely be looking at the next Tiguan, after all, there were many factors for getting a VW, not just fuel efficiency. (Admittedly environmental concerns of the company was one of them.)

I'll definitely have the recall done, thank you. I have too much warranty left to ignore it and endanger that. I'm not completely mad...

And have a car that is technically unroadworthy. I'm sure insurance companies will love voiding claims for unroadworthy cars. And don't think "they'll never know". That would be the first thing they check in the event of a claim.
