I bet your rear passengers struggle for room sitting behind you...

I would feel confident that you could drive the Passat or Honda Accord Euro and still have adequate room in the back for passengers also.
Actually my usual rear passengers seem to have plenty of room, but to be honest they have 4 short legs, fur, a wagging tail and are prone to licking people they like

I did set the driver's seat in an Octy for my comfort, and then tried sitting in the rear seat. I'd describe the leg room I had as adequate and comfortable, but not generous (unlike the Superb, which is very, very roomy in the back).

I don't mind raising reasonable alternatives when people ask for opinions about "which car ? ". After all, if they knew exactly what they wanted they wouldn't be asking a bunch of strangers on the interweb for opinions, would they ?

I recently read that there were a batch of faulty engines in the Accord Euro, and engineers had to be flown in from Japan and Thailand.

If I however changed my Jetta, and deceided not to get another,I would change to a Euro.

i bet you're still stuck in the middle between decisions? haha it is a real difficult choice. i love both cars but i must say i'm a little more inclined towards the honda euro having owned many hondas in the past and at the moment. never had any mechanical problems with any bar normal wear and tear. also if you're into aftermarket mods, probably a little more available in oz for the euro..

anyhow i think the only way for you to make a decision is to take one for a good drive. test drive a couple of times at different dealerships! haha

i'm sure your heart would align with one over the other after a few drives. hopefully your wife decides the same

all the best with your decision and enjoy

well i have found that the 2010 golf, jetta & passat all carry the same engine
1.4L 118tsi turbocharged/supercharged. 147fsi passat is out of the picture as it is no longer manufactured. i drove the 118 jetta...very impressed with its performance! passat 118tsi has not yet arrived in he showrooms so cannot test drive one. the one which is similar would be the jetta 118tsi. when i drive it, it is definately the better car...feel & performace, although asthetics cannot compete with the euro 2010. i dont like the fact that every tom. **** & harry will be driving a euro!

Jetta. Aesthetics is subjective.. itll grow on you in time when you forget about it and become distracted by its performace...

    Thats just my biased opinion...

    Hey VWeapn,
I helped my brother out (with suggestions)when he was looking at a simlilar situation like yours. He ended up choosing the Euro luxury and got it at a great price, 43.5k. The clincher for him was it was ready to pick up in 2 weeks and the amount of standard features the car offered. His other choice was the Skoda Octavia vRS. Only prob for him was the 4 month wait otherwise he would've gotten one. You should def check out the cars you've mentioned plus the vRS and test drive them. You won't be dissapointed really in any of them. What sort of $$ figure are yoiu looking at?
    Good luck mate.
    Cheers,
    Jayse.

Why not consider a top of the range Jetta 147 Highline ?
    That would be my choice.

I think the Jetta looks a lot like a Euro version of the previous Accord Euro...which IMHO is sportier than the current Accord Euro.

i think i might go over the weekend & see the skoda.
budget is 45k. We are not looking at a used car. the 147 jetta is not being manufactured..from memory there are new ones although will be a 2007-2009 model. so the only option is the 1.4L

plans are to colourcode front 7 rear valances & tinting driver/passenger windows. chipping could be an option down the track
