    P-plater turbo ban lifted

... at least in Victoria, for now.

Sorry if this has already been covered here.

Took Ford to come out with its turbo charged 4 cylinder engine to prompt the change. That sickens me. Smells like protectionism.

P-platers could soon be allowed to driver turbocharged cars

Yes, it sickens me too. Who cares about the lives? Money, profit and CEO's come first. Now the P platers can wack that performance tune on and show how silly the system is and the people that are behind it.

It was never 'banned' for p-platers, just restricted.
Most turbo diesels can be driven, and some turbo petrol cars if they are underpowered... Though saying that, I don't really think a mk4 GTI and Audi A3 1.8T are underpowered:S. these cars have to have an application submitted.
but it is ok to drive a mk4/5 R32!!! WTF

The whole blanket ban idea was moronic when it was announced. Im glad they are moving towards removing it as it was just further confirmation that the governments dont understand the the issues they are trying to address.

We need more education not legislation. We need incentive not penalty.

Morons will still be morons no matter what you tell them they can or cannot do.

Yep, this is my big beef too. Like a few weeks ago, a car full of 14year old in NT were trying to outrun the police and crashed and became a fireball or some such thing, I feel it is total BS that they make us feel guilty about the National Road Toll when things like this are counted!
Story about fireball: Two dead after car speeds from police - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) hmm, weren't 14, but I am sure there was another almost like this with a bunch of teens (unlicenced) in a car that crashed and died recently. No amount of speed cameras, road rules etc will stop these kind of morons..

I guess you can see this thing from two sides, it's a step forward from the old nanny-state system, but could also be interpreted as an industry favour for some companies.

I hope not to many P-Platers kill them selfes and their mates to prove the government wrong, which could lead to even more restrictions and fear campaigns from our great politicians in Canberra.

Anyway. Their sure will be a rise in the revenue raising sector (speed cameras etc).

    Amen.

Imho the drivers education here is far behind other western countries. How are young drivers supposed to learn how to behave on the road, when they get taught by somebody who is not a professional instructor. But that's another story...
