if it's all true, I can't see how it's defamation.
protip for businesses: word of mouth is worth more than a sale.
Just thought i'd make a comment on an incident that happened recently that i thought i should voice, but im happy to be told if it is unwarranted.
Its regarding a car dealership a mate and I visited as i was helping check a few cars out as you do just for interest sake.
When enquiring about a particular car at this particular dealership my mate was continually harassed about taking out finance, checking finance and all the other non sense, which is far enough, they're trying to make business.
BUT what really ticked me off is when my friend replied by saying he was still looking at other cars as options, and didn't want his finance checked, the dealer proceeded to insult him about how we had been wasting his time and that everybody needs their finance checked.
When my mate replied saying that he would prefer to pay cash, he then got even more fed up and said no one your age can afford to buy a new/near new demo car upfront and followed up by saying that if you use the internet to buy cars that you should stay off carsales.com.au because it costs them (the dealer) money to waste time with stupid enquiries like us.
ALSO When we turned up for the test drive that day, the car was covered in grass and my mate was not told about the several scratches and nicks the car had received. The man who took us on the test drive couldn't care less and then tried to convince my mate that a car with 15,000 kilometres and an 2008 model was still considered new?
I dont think ill mention the name in case of defamation but i was just outraged at the service provided and the amount of scare tactics used to push a sale.
The dealer even rang to try and pressure the sale again, but by that stage my mate told them to stick it.
just thought i'd get that off my chest.

Ah don't worry about it man; he's stuck as a salesman without the oppurtunity to pay cash for a dealer used car, his assumptions and defimation mean nothing, his loss of business, now that means something.
I had the same when i was purchasing a house (at a young age), a lot of doubt, questions, etc, and because of which i changed real estate agencies, the next one treated me with the respect i deserved as a customer.
On that note, it does cost them money (not much) and there are a lot of tire kickers out there, but that's part of business. As i said, its his loss, he's not the only dealer, go elsewhere if you're not pleased...
2011 TDI Caddy- AirRex x AccuAir setup.
Just write an email to the dealer principle. The salesguy should get a lovely serve
Im sure if they have staff this rude then they would want to know about it.
If your feeling up for some fun, go back into the dealership with your mate.
Only this time have a MP3 player in a pocket recording the 'conversations'.
Its up to you want to do next![]()

HAHAHA
Nah. Go to another dealership, test drive a BETTER car and then rock up and say to him: "THIS is what you missed out on!" ALONG WITH A LETTER TO THE DEALER PRINCIPLE!! (Stupid caps lock!)
OUTRAGEOUS!
It's not defamation if it's true.. As mentioned above; go somewhere where you'll be treated with the respect you deserve. There are other ways to show your disgust, but they resorting to those methods would never be not condoned on this website.

At this stage we only have one side oif the story and if true it is clearly disappointing. The Dealer principal is the correct contact to express your cocerns. Posting here doesn't resolve your problems.
I had the same thing happen many, many years ago when I was shopping for a - back then - nice new Swift GTi ... turned up and wanted to take it for a drive, he says we'll need to sit down and talk finance, I state that I'll be paying cash so that's not necessary, sales guy assumes I'm trying to get a free drive in their car and wouldn't let me take it for a run unless I put down a deposit on the car first ! I walked out, drove to Action Suzuki, had a drive, paid a deposit on the car and picked it up a week later ... sent letter to dealer principle of the original dealership (no emails back then!) explaining the very poor service I received and dropped in there as well during the week to see the original salesman and show him my new car and his loss of sales ... he was a turd.
I've always found dealers attitude towards people with cash amusing, as soon as they know you are not wanting finance they always seem to turn it into a chore .... not wanting to derail the thread but how much do they actually make from providing finance ?
The sales guy gets about $50 for the referal, the Finance and dealer make money from the Finance company.
