    Nürburgring

    Hey

I'm living in Stockholm at the moment and will be going to the Nürburgring at some stage in the next 12 months. I realise it is closed a bit during winter because of snow/ice, but will probably more autumn or next summer.

Has anyone got any tips on a good place to hire a (decent/fun) car or anything else that may be of assistance?

    Thanks!

There are several car hire companies there that cater specifically for visitors wanting to drive the track. A friend of mine went with this one but there are other companies that hire out more powerful (and hence expensive) cars.

I'll be doing the same thing whilst over there in October. Here's hoping they (rental car companies) look upon a 24 yr old favourably!

    "Artega GT
    Info

Exotic, rare, purposeful and available to rent! The Artega GT is a very special mid-engined sportscar developed here in Germany. It uses a direct-injection 3.6ltr VR6 motor making 300hp and heaps of torque.

    • Recaro Pole Position leather bucket seats
    • DSG 6-speed double-clutch 'box with paddle shifters
    • Super sticky Continental Force Contact 'event' tyres
    • Upgraded Bilstein suspension and Brembo brakes

This is an exciting car to drive, but good track knowledge is a pre-requisite of trying to drive this car fast on the 'ring.

    ... VR6.

But really, 4 laps in a swift would be a giggle.

    Thanks guys.
I've heard good things about Rent Race Car as well. Plus, they have a Scirocco Cup+

Bflat: everything I've seen says 25yrs minimum.

Get as much time on GT5, forza, etc, to learn the track. Punching the armco will cost you your first born and the removal of the parts that achieved it.

This is on my bucket list.

That's cheaper than I recall reading a few years back. Still wouldn't recommended it

I did the Ring in April this year. I used a GTI from Rent Race Car, they are fantastic. It is an expensive exercise, so be realistic and don't think you can do it cheaply.

If you can time it for a public holiday (when the ring is open), that would be good as it will be half as busy as a normal Saturday/Sunday.

Read all the ring sites before you go (Ben Lovejoy's site, etc) and make sure you have some travel insurance with rental car excess behind you...just in case.

I would spend some time on playstation, xbox, but it DOES NOT equip you to take on the real thing.

Last, but not least. You are the slowest on the track, everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) is faster than you, so just have fun.
