    Ah but do you drive it ha ha . These days Volvo drivers are pretty much like most other drivers but HSV owners are in a world of their own . I,ll tell you what happened to a mate of mine in Sydney , he had fitted a sunroof to a Holden and dropped it back to the dealer . While he was waiting to be picked up a woman drove into the service driveway in her HSV and parked it and came inside to reception . Shortly a mechanic came into the reception area and asked who owned the Commodore parked in the way of the entrance to the workshop no answer , goes outside and then comes back in asks this time who owned the Red Commodore again no answer . Finally third time he comes in and asks who owns the Red Commodore rego so and so blocking the driveway , well this woman spins around and barks out Quote { That is not a Commodore its a Holden Special Vehicle and by the way while were at it I despise standing in line behind the rest of these people waiting to be served } Well he reckons you could hear a pin drop and the look on peoples faces like WTF ! True story .I also have several similar ones that I have encountered over the years and nearly as good as that one . Yes they live among us .

    Yes you are right I have dealt with quite a few in my line of work and boy do they think they deserve special treatment , I have never come across so many of these owners who seem to think their cars and them are to be treated like royalty . I love to put them down sometimes sarcastically by telling them their car started out as a bog stock Commodore and then HSV bolted on a whole load of over expensive parts and then the customer was charged a ludicrous price for some badges .

    First thing I do each new car is make the engine audible, my girl's Veloster is case and point, it was sewing machine quiet, she now has SO many people ask how they can make their car sound like that, and I must admit, some of my best work, it sounds horny for a 100kw Hyundai. She fangs it everywhere now....

    One of the best things, and worst, about modern cars is their sound proofing. The manufacturers, particularly in the passenger car market, are doing a pretty decent job of isolating the occupants from road noise, making for a more relaxing drive.

    One of the pleasures of driving (as opposed to commuting), however, is the aural pleasure that comes from the engine. High end models, in particular, are coming out with baffles that adjust as you drive, adding to the driving experience. If that is your market adding a cheap conduit for engine sound is one way to increase the driving pleasure while retaining the sound deadening characteristics. "Pottering" around town it will be unobtrusive, when the commute is over and driving starts you will get a more satisfying drive.

    And its got to be better than playing faux engine sounds through the entertainment system...

    Casual driving I never rev over 2k, nice and quiet.
    If I want to have some fun, put the front windows down to hear the engine better, rev it up to 5k before shifting

    Why would you? It's a sound conduit that would a) melt if you connected it to the exhaust and b) bring noxious gases into the cab.

    If you want to hear the exhaust remove some sound deadening from the boot. When we were test driving V8 Commodores the utes sounded a lot better than the sedans due to the large sound chamber behind the cab, particularly if a hard tonneau was installed. The redline, without a spare, sounded even better...
