Hey Preen. Had my first go on this today. I believe it is an "Asquith" and it would have to date pre WWII surely?
Condition isn't that greeat, gets flogged year in year out by novices. Genuinely smiled as the old girl soldiered on to give me my 25mm holes. Am building a G-clamp out of 20mm thick plate. Lots of hacksawing involved (as part of a hand-tools module).

Not bad! probably ~WWII i'd say or maybe a bit newer. I bet its got some nuts. That baby would spin some seriously big jobs around without too much effort i'd say. Looks nice and rigid too. Almost as big as our radial arm drills. :)Quote:

Amazing how a 52 year old piece of equipment is still running today, and I'm not even sure about the maintenance of the machine. Goes to show how much "built in obsolescence" there is in todays products...!

Now back to our regular program.
First up.. Here's a Ford Galaxy my old man does work on and a rego every year.. It's all original and the guy has had it since NEW!

We got the fuel pump extension finished. All holes drilled and tapped etc..

I ended up remaking the fuel pump drive adapter. The original was a little too small on the OD and the counter bores for the outer holes would have -just- broken out the side. It would have been fine, but it would have looked like crap. Even though you can't see it, i couldn't have a whole lot of good work and then one part that looks sh*t, so i remade it out of some tool steel. :)
Here it is screwed to the cam gear with the pump drive attached aswell.

I made the flange up for the blower-drive for the starter today too. As shown mounted to the blower snout. It has to be removed so that i can get my welder mate to TIG weld the drive dog and the flange together on the back using 607 tool steel/dissimilar metals filler rod. (This is because the drive dog is hardened and using normal rod would cause it to fracture)
Also shown below, we now have the blower belt tensioner pulley brackets (with the spacers etc i made) fitted and the timing cover has been re-fitted for (HOPEFULLY!) the last time.

The fuel was delayed by 2 weeks and should be here hopefully next weekend. We'll be raising the rear end of the Caddy up a but and heading to sydney to pick that up.. :D

Now we're awaiting the blower belt to arrive so we can fit that and get the idler pulley lined up correctly. Then we can do all the valve clearances (much easier to wind the engine over via the blower).
Tomorrow i have to make up a bracket to hold the oil filter and also have to burn a hole through the crank bolt with the EDM so we can wire it to 2 of the blower pulley bolts. :)
The blower belt has arrived and we are in possession of it! :biggrin:
