No wonder i'm starting to go grey...

Moved to Newcastle 6 weeks ago & my 25 y/o daughter thought that would be wonderful, as she could borrow my car from time to time...

I thought 'oh dear', but nominated her on my insurance policy as an additional driver, which increased my premium a bit. Of course it would... So i went into the RMS (RTA) on Saturday to get a NSW licence again & as i didn't have anything in the way of an official document with my new address, my daughter filled out the referee section with her licence number included.

The lady behind the counter told me i couldn't use this licence holder as a referee, as there were 'outstanding issues'... I questioned her about it, & she rang the RTA to find out what the issue was, & she has apparently been driving around on a suspended licence for 2 years due to unpaid parking fines! Including 2 trips to Sydney in my beloved Tiguan!

    Sigh...

Wow I'm surprised they told you those details. It would be a breach of Privacy Laws I'm sure.
So when you call your insurance company to update them on your daughter's license history (which you are now obliged to do) you will no doubt grow a few more of those grey hairs.
Kids hey, I've got a long while till my daughter asks for the keys.

Oh, sorry! Wasn't clear - yeah, the RTA lady couldn't tell me the issues, my daughter rang this morning to find out what they were...

I didnt know you could end up with a suspended license from not paying parking fines... there you go.

The government has ways of getting what's owed to them. On the other hand, other businesses that are owed money by clients who duck and weave, have to pay to go through the courts. I'm having such issues with a client. They are refusing to respond after receiving the invoices. Australia Post has "lost" a registered letter with the invoices. They are conducting an investigation which could take weeks. Meanwhile I have to try and send a second registered letter (at my expense) to force them to respond and hope that Australia Post does not lose that!
