You gotta be *****ting me.
That's a pretty poor excuse.
At least we have the US one to tide us over.
And hopefully with the bigger break they can get some great specials on.
As title says, no new series of Top Gear this year because of the Olympics & X Factor

To be honest I'm pretty happy about this news (and this is coming from someone who flew to the UK for 2 days for a Top Gear filming when our number came up in the ticket lottery).
They've been running for 17 seasons now, and things are getting a little long in the tooth. Many of the challenges are rehashes of things done previously and you can see some of the jokes becoming forced rather than natural. Go and compare the recent super car drive through Italy (the MP4-12C, Aventador and Noble) to the first 1000 GBP Porsche challenge and see how things have changed. I'd much rather see 7 brilliant episodes a year than 14 mediocre ones and I think this change, even if is being blamed on the Olympics or XFactor, is a positive one.
I agree with you to a certain extent, the quality is not what it used to be, but it's still a damn good show and the last series was a marked improvement.
I'd still rather watch 14 average Top Gear episodes than any other car show's on TV, or crime shows, or talent contests, or fat people crying, or fat people tasting food etc...
