    New Year’s Driving Resolutions

    Hi all,

I saw someone doing something this morning that I think is a really bad habit and it made me reflect on my driving habits and what I’d like to start doing differently.

This old guy pulled out of his parking space then fumbled to put on his seatbelt as he drove off. Personally I think that’s totally unnecessary and probably suggests other bad habits.

I know I often drive too close when I catch up to a slower car, ie someone doing well under the speed limit for no good reason, but as they say, two wrongs don’t make a right. So my resolution is to stop this bad habit of mine.

Good on you Ben !! Good suggestion and a Happy New year to you and the family!!

For myself I've only driven manuals for over 35 years, all were modded so it's very engaging to drive them. I got sick of driving a manual in traffic so I've been keeping the tig in normal drive mode. Between that and how comfortable it is to drive and all the tech I find it hard to get engaged the same way. Hard to get grounded with all the tech and comfort. New year resolution, only drive in S and mod it.

Happy New Year, may it bring you peace, happiness and prosperity!

A friend posted on another forum that he was happy to see the back of 2018, which had been a very tough year for him.

Another friend posted this reply, which I thought worthy of re-posting here:

If ever you feel useless, just remember, it's somebody's job to install indicators on a BMW.

I used to do that until one day a motorcycle cop coming towards me in Lobethal, spotted me doing that. I was too impatient to do it before I started out. The cop, who was a good one, told me the on the spot fine was $380 & let me off. Not a new years resolution but the fear of getting caught & a heavy fine.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
