New Car - Need suggestions ($25-$30k limit)

    Hello everyone,

    Simply put.
I'm getting rid of my MK3 VR6 and I'd like something 'newer/brand new'.
(DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A VW, but they are a beautiful species)

Was debating on the brand new TSI Golfs and TSI Polos ...

    I'm getting mixed emotions.
Throw some opinions at me please!

PS: I understand that test driving plays a big part / I can drive manual

    Thanks

You're in mk6 GTI territory or you could also look at a Skoda Octavia RS.

Of course it depends what you need to use your car for and whether you want a new car/warranty.

The updated Polo GTI is about to come out in a few months with a 1.8T engine with 140kw and the option of a manual gearbox.

    Thanks for the reply Tigger.

The car will be used as a daily (to and from work - 10min each way).
The 'newer' the car the 'better' I suppose ... however MK6 territory is good territory.

The GTI's are usually high km's though which sort of sucks ...

    Cheers Lucas.

I've noticed that on the VW Australia website, GTI Polo is 'coming soon'.
Any idea what price that'll be though mate?

    Surely it'll be like 35-40k ...

Should start in the high $20k mark - it will be similar to the outgoing model in terms of price.

For $22-25k you can find a nice Mk6 GTI with under 60,000km's. I got one 12months ago for $19,600 with 55,000km (white, manual, only option was reverse camera) but i got it from the dealership my brother works at and he gave it to me for the trade in price, so it was $3-4k cheaper than it should have been. Its a good little car but i think i would prefer a new Polo GTI (actually i may upgrade to the Polo once it is released).

You're lucky your brother got you the hook up!
    Such a nice car.

Well to be honest, i'd definitely prefer the GTI than the TSI 1.2
It's a matter of when it will get released and the overall price. Have you got any idea on when it'll hit the stores?

Also, I'm thinking about trading in my MK3 manual VR6 as opposed to selling it privately, thoughts?
(really don't have the time to get it roadworthy).

The updated Polo GTI should be released in the next few months - it's already available o'seas.

I agree - the 1.2T polo doesn't interest me much either, definitely not a performance oriented car at all.......but the GTI on the other hand will be a little weapon. 140kw and 320nm in a 1200kg car.

As for your VR6, being that they are quite rare if i was you i would sell it privately to an enthusiast - regardless of condition. There will always be someone who will fix it up or at least use it as a donor car to repair another car etc. the car dealer will basically give you nothing for it literally.

If you're considering Polo GTi, shop against the Fiesta ST
