I did a charge back on an online store transaction, (never received the item, would not answer phone or email). It took the bank 4 months to get my $20.45 back.

Haha, i guess our man has been busy.

Hi thanks for mailing back, the phone reception is really poor out here because of the stormy weather we've been having of late.I am an oceanographer, i am at sea right now,i am buying this for my dad as a surprise gift and I will be happy if you can accept an offer of $33,500, i am unable to come and inspect right now,as i wont be back for a while and i want it at Dad's latest in a week's time, if you can send one or two more pics (if you have) , if you dont its ok.I can only pay through paypal at the moment as i dont have access to my bank account online(i dont have internet banking with it),but i have it attached to my paypal account, and this is why i insisted on using paypal to pay,all i will need is your paypal email address to make the payments, and if you dont have a paypal account yet,its pretty easy to set one up at www.paypal.com.au,i will be expecting your email.I will arrange for the pick up and delivery to my Dad after the payment has been sorted, as I have a freighter that will do that for a reasonable fee, thanks a a lot and i will be looking forward to your quick reply

To which i started with very honest reply as some bait...

lets see what he comes back with.

Sorry mate, i will only do Bank Cheque or direct deposit.

Too many scammers around at the moment.

If You have internet access you will obviously have netbank access.

Get him to transfer the $ to his 'freighter's' paypal account and then he can give you cash.

Or you only deliver the goods once the funds have been withdrawn from PayPal and then you can close your bank account before chargeback!

    Sorted!

I wouldnt buy (or sell) any item of great value from ebay or through paypal . From a buyers perspective it's more secure than direct transfer.

If buying on paypal i'd use the credit card option and even if you do, by the time they investigate 3 months could lapse and you don't have a leg to stand on.

The fees aren't worth it anyway.

Same thing has happened to me about a dashboard I've been selling but much less articulately:

i was just glancing through ebay.com.au because i need to buy your item,it a very lovely item you have gotten here and I am interested in buying it outrightly. For a quick sale, I will pay you 2500.00aud for it. I was planning going on physically to purchase the item but could not due to the nature of my work as i am always on the move cos I am a marine engineer and I work with an International shipping company.the item will be picked up at your location by my pick up agent I will be paying with my paypal account.so please do reply me asap with your paypal account or send me a payment request from your paypal account so i can effect payment to you rightaway.I await your reply
NB:Honestly, I do not know the actual worth of this item because I?m always busy sailing. If my offer is not ok, Let me know so i can shoot up abit or bring it down as the case maybe.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Paypal can still chase you for it.

Ive had 2 or 3 legit offers for the car from people who have come to see it, he obviosuly didnt even read my original email as i had said to him that i wasnt selling the car til late february anyway.

have forwarded the email to carsales and scam alert.

I got one too. I am selling an A3 on carsales

Thanks for the prompt response.. I am ready to buy the car now for birthday gift for brother in-law and i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding the car. I really want it to be a surprise for my brother in-law so i wont let him know anything about it until it gets delivered to him, i am sure he will be more than happy with the car. I insisted on paypal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your paypal email address and the price so i can make the payments asap for it and pls if you don't have paypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com.au and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with paypal so as to put the money through. I have a pick up agent that will come and pick the car up after i have made the payments...

    Thanks

    My reply

What a load of bollocks. You are a scammer. I will take cash on collection for the car.
Use the telephone if serious, which you are not. You are wasting my time.
I suggest you go forth and multiply.
